I have an ati radeon 9550 256 mb car on an intelp2 2.4 gig processor running on windows xp. 2.8 gigs of ram. In order to run on medium settings I have to actuallt sit in a region and let it load before I can move. Are there any settings I can tinker with to remedy this? I also have the bandwith setting up to maximum which helpd a little as well.

What I did was turned it to low and fiddled with the graphics settings until I had them to bearable. Draw distance and atmospheric shaders are the two biggest killers for the cards.

And as for the rezzing? It's always a good idea to wait to rez anyway.

set your virtual memory page file to 6048MB or higher - depending on your available hard disk space. worked for my radeon X1300.

Start >Control Panel >System >Advanced >Settings >Advanced >Change (Virtual Memory)
Suggest you set up paging file on different drive from XP Operating system - e.g. if Windows is on Drive C put paging file on Drive D.

Hope it helps.
