(warning: boring long post, do not read)

I don't like to moan, especially when i do not have anything to loose from what happened, so read it as just a message to who's interested to adjust their own aiming, as a "rant" from a "fan" that thought it was a great and friendly project but discovered the opposite.

I try to make it short (na, it's not): there's a "famous" band on SL, they are covering a big RL music band, huge group, many fans, success "concerts"... a great project, i liked it alot.
A day i where contacted by their manager to provide some of their apparel to use on the stage, in the time i've also known their members... friendly, very sweet persons.. so i where glad to offer my products to make their representations better.
What happened later shocked me not because of myself, but because of my thinking : what the hell they are doing? If they are capable of ruin a collaboration with me (im not a troll, im not a spammer, im not a griefer, im actually HELPing you) how is supposed you may have a future in a business where the relationship with your public is the crucial point of your whole activity? So i've experienced myself when someone raises to glory to fall into the god syndrome.

When you are subscribed to a big group you also receive some spam or OT msgs, because there's always someone that doesn't understand the function of a group... anyway i'm used to accept it and usually reply with ironic phrases, to transform the disappointing moment in a moment of fun to alleviate the (inevitable) fight.
The last time it happened i replied then with a obvious ironic message to make fun of those ppl spamming, and precisely:

"So I sell 100 linden for 101 lindes, great deal"

the persons there laughed at me, indeed, understanding the joke... but not the one supposed as the "Security Staff Member" (lol) that kicked me out from the group 10 seconds later.... initially i tougth she where joking, so she were copy/pasting a false kick message into my IM (since i've remained in the group), so i've replied her: "so you wanna buy 100 linden?", i figured then after she were not joking at all because of her reply: "i'm gonna report abuse you because of arrassing..." (!) ...i've stopped immediatly with her and i've msged the group founder (that i know) and the performers (that i know also), the first replied with something like: "she did it right because you where spamming" (probably ignoring what the word spam means...), the second didn't replied me at all.

So now i've stopped to help these ppl with their business (whenever they need my help or not..), i didn't lost anything.. so why im whining here? It's because: wtf, you are running a damn great project, why u gonna ruin it hiring those no-brains security staff, and also protect their operate? You need to use your brain, you need to distinguish ppl by ppl, you are not a robot with autokickban features on wildcards.

Learn from my rant. Do it better.

Sorry this happened to you, Vittorio. As you say, people aren't robots, and this should have been dealt with differently. Some people take their 'security' jobs a little too seriously. Maybe they felt they had to take sides, and went with their employee, but you deserved better - especially since you were helping out with your instruments...

Sometimes ranting feels good, though.
I hope this doesn't stop you from helping others in the future.

For what it is worth if it is the same group I am thinking of I have had nothing but bad experiences when I have gone. People with prim hair, attatchments etc demanding that others take theirs off.

Not to mention I have been disapointed that a group that supposedly is made to honor a band I have loved since the early 80's streams bootleg music of pirated concerts. Way to show support for a band. They are truly one of my only pet peeves in SL.

This is the only time I have said this in a forum. I am sure there are many who will argue they raise awareness of causes, etc. I just will not be able to get past the using illegaly taped concerts as a method to that end.

Meh.. sorry you were treated rough but just remember they are far from the "real thing".

Thanks four reply, i've awaited some days before deciding to post here, since i weren't sure to risk to open "another pointless/personal rant...", since the argument would be easily read as: "you have been banned... so now you look for your revenge", that's not the point, i do have many things to do that adding another group to my profile is almost an headhache to me, but i've decided to do since THEY invited me to do. It's not about the security staff, etc.. i know perfectly these ppl, they exists in any community, with their "rambos" style, etc; i'm more concerned about the management: you know who i am, you know what i do.. how's supposed you gonna call me a "spammer"? I never wanted any "excuse", i'm not the Mr.President, nor a VIP... but i were expecting something like: "You know, we receive so many spam each day that probably the security staff got confused and kicked you.. i'm gonna add you again to the group", that would have been fine, friendly, something that any PR would known. So im definively concerned how ppl manage to transform something good and exciting in a failure because of their "closed mentality", not because of my miss, but because of other persons like me that may have been there in the past, and there will be (possibiliy) in their future.
Stop working with others? Absolutely not! I will continue my "hobby", trusting ppl or whatever, i wanted to open their eyes (if they even follow this forum), i will continue with my "job" as previously. ;)
Cheers.

Good deal Vittorio. Go find those who will appreciate you and have a sense of humor. :)

I worry about those who will think this band (if it is the one I am thinking of) is the real thing. I have had to set quite a few people straight that they are simply role players using alts to pretend. I wonder how many have a bad experience and think the real band are just jerks lol.

Anyway.. good luck. :)

i know the feeling you are going through..it feels like being used in a way..you supplying them with things for a main part of their show should get you more respect than what they showed..
i hope they come to you again for something else so you can send them on their way empty handed.

As a content creator and a Artist I understand the need to share one's work or wanting to work with a team but sometimes I wonder when in a similar or less then pleasant things rear there heads if it is even worth it.
Worse thing for me would be in similar situation is the team I am working is so caught up in their own projects, self-importance or ego they don't even realize I am gone nor seem concerned about that their wardrobe person is missing or if they got what they wanted and found something better.
I hope that isn't the case in your situation.

@Mcphisto: ....unfortunately... it is.

@FD: im not involved into their projects, i was just one tought they were running something nice, and i got in contact with em because of my shop. I don't think i'm any way "important" for them as a "single", but it supposed that i were one (of many others) acting to support their project with my small contribute... if you fire (or don't care at all) about those ones that are "helping" you someway, i can't imagine what you do with the whole rest of your (so called) "fans".

Sometime it seems that ppl are doing you a "favour" when it is exactly the opposite, i am supporting you, you exists because i'm paying you (with my money, linden, with my time). I have that concept clear in my mind because i run a store, if i start to do shit with my customers i have to close it, i "survive" because of em, and i try to repay em back doing my best. But it seems someone is missing this simple concept.

Maybe the "band" is just trying to imitate their RL counterparts in off-stage behavior, too. They already have Security--just wait till they get a Publicist!

Sorry you had the trouble with the ingrates. But, as they say, revenge is a dish best served cold: you might meet someone who makes musical instruments... ;)

Yeah I understand wanting to help others...and also trying to contribute in some small way but compared to others out there I am really no one special.
I didn't have any expectations either way when I give items I created yet sometimes on a bad day I wonder if it is worth it.
I have briefly shops in past, I didn't feel comfortable with where I was then I have been debating on it again but there so many of us out there I am starting to think maybe it just best to create because I want too but not to share with others.
