Badly Pixelated Avatars

When I pan out a little ways from avatars they appear very roughly pixelated and blurred and their animations what ever their in stops. When I zoom back in, their avatars are sharp again and their animations resume.

I've also noticed from a distance that avatars are leaning back and shaking. When I zoom in they stand upright. lol

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Preferences, graphics tab. Check the custom box on the right. Down near the bottom left, you can then uncheck "avatar impostors" and the weird avatars will stop. The impostor thing is supposed help out with client performance, but it's ugly enough that a slower display might be preferable =)

I did that and set everything to max for avatar rendering but still get the jagged edges around the avis. I am running with a Nvidia 8600 GT card so I don't get why the jaggedness is there. Ah well.. something to get used to. hehe

The second problem sounds more like antialiasing. The older client seemed to do a tiny bit on its own, the new one doesn't really try. You might poke around with your video card settings to see if you can adjust it from that end.

I'm using the latest download version of SL. I don't see that in preferences.

Also I've log in 3 times since I posted this and each time I have moved items that were not put in folders like clothing and body parts. Each time I have logged in it's like I never even touched my inventory. All the folders are right where they were the first time after 3 times moving them. =/

if you clear the cache before relogging it will force a new copy of your inventory directory to download.
so do that and then do some folder changing. then clear the cache again and relog just to see.

You don't see the custom checkbox in the graphics tab, or you don't see the impostors setting after turning on custom?

The antialiasing thing is something you would set in the OS rather than within SL.

I get the whole jagged avatar thing when using my laptop which has crappy on-board graphics, however never get it on my PC which has 2 x Geforce 8800 cards.

So could it be that you graphics card is not up to spec?

I found it. TY that worked. I've never been able to pull out of Ruthy mode yet. I'll wait it out.

Wouldn't be aweful if everyone lost all their inventory during these trying times.
That would be the straw that would break the camels back. lol
