.... the bizarre landing coordinates on the new Search thing?
It's got people landing underneath my main retail complex.. in corners, face to the wall, even got one out on the bottom of the ocean floor instead of 500 meters up where the store area is! Is there any way short of setting a parcel landing point (example, I have multiple stores on one big parcel and like to give direct LMs to those stores for those looking for particular goods rather than forcing them to a main tp in point), to get the Search to land them at a more appropriate spot. How does it actually select a tp landing point for the parcel? I had to actually build a reception area underneath my main build for all the people being landed there so they could get up to the retail level. I've been watching and see a lot of people just tping away when they can't see anything that looks like shopping area when they come in there and wonder just how much potential business this new search is sabataging for me. A friend of mine also has the new Search landing visitors on the ocean floor in an extreme corner of his parcel.

I have landed in some really crazy spots. Nothing like landing underneith a shopping area stuck under water to have one not want to shop there. I often appear way up in the air only to freefall to the ground as well. I often wonder if the coordinate used to be a skybox that is no longer there. I'm fairly new, but can't a land owner set the option to where they want people to TP speficically? I assume this includes altitude as well? Most places seem fairly accurate, putting you right onto a TP pad of some kind. Only annoying thing about that is when it becomes an orgy of people TPing in pushing each other around in the process. (can one specify "a random place within X feet from this spot" I wonder?)

I have run into this as well.
I assumed there were just some shops that set up bad Landing coordinates.

You can only have one for a parcel and for example, I have about 5 stores on a large parcel.. they all provide different product types so if I set a landing point for the parcel..even specific LMs for my diff stores, all land at that set point..it makes it harder for people to find what they are specifically after.

In the interests of order and efficiency, it might be a good idea to set a single arrival point. At the arrival point, have a short range teleport board, with signs that take you to the various stores.

Thank goodness someone (it was Oryx, bless her) told me that tping from search to my store was sending people to the bottom of the cliff next door!

So, what was your solution Kaimi for adjusting the tp in point? My friend that I mentioned set up a landing pad with a funny, sarcastic sign on it and a tp to get people up off the ocean floor to where his store actually is.

It will probably send you to the geographic center of the parcel if no landing point is set. Which makes some sense.

Which makes some sense. hmm, well judging by the locations in both my main parcel and that of my friend.. it 's definitely not the geographic center of those parcels and I'm really not seeing how the Search is choosing these landing coordinates.

Were you standing in that spot when you selected "show in search" (or made the classified)? I assume not, if you have people going to different locations, but it is the only thing I can think of.

I have heard there is a limitation when teleporting via SLurl, where the landing point can't be any higher than 300m. Could this be the same problem? (Looks like New Search uses the "secondlife://" links instead of SLurls. I wonder, though, whether New Search's teleport links are different from how old search does it.)
A couple other things: - If you use Search > Places (old search), do you land in the proper place, but using New Search and clicking on the same listing sends you to the wrong place? - Is it possible people are using other means to get there, like teleporting using the world map, or locating the region name in New Search?
