Traffic System Borked?

In another thread, I just read that many sims are showing 0 traffic. So I checked my store's traffic (not a full sim) and it's fine. Then I did a Places tab search on "furniture" - oooo. The top one has 47,931 traffic, the next has only 6132, and only 79 results are returned. Summat's wrong.

Only 2 results are returned for "low prim furniture" - the top one having a whopping 515 traffic points.

It's not just the 0 traffic places that are missing. My place has plenty of traffic but it's not listed at all.

Maybe they're playing with the Search metrics in advance of doing something about (or perhaps, doing away with?) traffic bots?

Or maybe a hoard of hitherto unkown Lindens snuck around in the night and flagged every parcel that has something even remotely related to bots and camping as not to show in the Places tab

But I think it's just borked - i.e. normal SL.

Try that "furniture" Places search again.

I see the same old reliables up there with 100,000 + traffic, and the stacks of 70 and 80 bots waving from Map.

Some of those places have been clearing bots for intervals and putting them bakl again.
Because of the time lapses in updating traffic, it's odd to see a 100,000+ place with only 2 or 3 green dots on Map for large parts of a day.

LL must have unborked it after you looked.

Add:

And those sims I noticed now have their traffic non-zero.
Something got poked into life in the past hour or so.

I tried it again, and I still get the same results for both "furniture" and "low prim furniture". For funiture, the #1 has 47k, the #2 has 6k, and only 79 results are found. It must be only part of the system that's borked, so that different people can get different results.

Or more Lindens read these forums than you think, and one of them thought it would be funny to fook up your search results for a bit :)

I see six "furniture" places with more than 50K traffic (three over 100K), five of them with stacks of bots.

how can ANY place in search have that high a count unless they are botting?

Well, something was certainly wrong with it all. Not only is the Places tab search borked, at least for some people, but today I didn't get my first sale until almost 4 hours into the day - and that's something that *never ever* happens when things are normal. Since then, sales have continued as normal.

Or running an unrelated club event or something like that. Make that multiple events.

Last night I wanted to find some new hangout spots - getting tired of some of the ones I'd latched onto before. I put a few terms into place search, and tried out the places at the top of the traffic tier - only to find most of them empty of other people.

From a user perspective, if the place that shows up as high traffic has no people, something is broken.

I don't understand how the traffic metric works, what it is actually tracking, I just understand how a user of the content is going to want to find content, and for that, its broken.

Something is ropey but yesterday around this time I figured my traffic was lower than it should have been, today it's higher than usual, but people have been doing work there.

If this is the first time you've been hit by the invisibility bug, and it lasted just four hours, you are quite lucky. Three times this year my traffic has just about disappeared for a couple weeks at a time, and I figured out why just once (landing point was reset).
