Hey guys, Recently I bought a "Diamond Studded & Silver Collar (voice setup) v2.0" I've IM'd one of the names on the note card I got with the collar but its been a few days and still no reply (understandable RL happens I suppose) So my question is, has anyone else purchased this collar and had issues getting the commands to work? I've followed all the steps but nothing happens I right clicked and edit on the collar to find the creator, but after contacting her about it, the reply was "Sorry I have not sold those collars for years, please contact the person you purchased it from" If anyone has any helpful advice, would love to hear it ^_^ Thanks!

Hmm.. gonna open the line of suggestions with an obvious one.
Have you tried using it at another location.. another sim that has hardly to no other people there?
It *could* be that scripts are turned off where you are and it is not being allowed to work.

does it require the use of a leash and a 2nd person to control it for it to work?

@Macphisto Yes, I've tried it in 5 different sims, all with scripts allowed....
@3Ring Yes, for the commands to work properly it requires a Master or Mistress to hold the leash and give the commands...I tried it with my partner who is new to collars as I am, and I tried it with a friend who has experience working with collars and she couldnt get it either
Because I really do like the look of the collar, I will keep checking this. Until a solution is found, bought a M&S though lol

Who is the maker of that one? It doesn't sound like a familiar one to me. Most of the newer ones have a fairly standard set of commands.

Sounds like you bought an "obsolete" collar - one that the maker no longer supports. Not much you can do about that, I am afraid. Though it is somewhat unusual that someone else other than the maker was selling a collar that the maker "hasn't sold for years".
If you like the look of the collar, and the collar is modifyable (most are), I'd just take out all the scripts and replace them with a new set. Sensations makes a good drop-in set if scripts and animations that will turn your prim collar into a very nice "Amethyst" type collar. (Look for the Sensations sim in Search, with the mature checkbox checked). Other collar makers also offer "script only" packages, and some people sell stand-alone script sets for use in collars, even though they don't sell collars themselves.
When shopping for a collar, you really want to pay close attention to the script system that it uses. Some interactions with that vendor's and other vendor's products require specific collar or cuff systems. The beter ones will interact fairly well with a number of vendor's products. (Lockmeister, Sensations, and the like).

Sorry for the silly question- but curious- other than the symbolism... what does a collar actually do?

M&S? That's Master & Slave Toy Store? Their collars work fine, but they can be tricky for the Master. The one I had (bought quite a while ago) came with a HUD for both master and slave, which made it much easier. Do you see a HUD included?
If you're using chat commands, are you sure you're using the right channel to communicate with the collar? *ponders*
I have it in my head that the default was 33, which if so means you would type: /33<command>
to do a command. .

From: Amaranthim Talon Sorry for the silly question- but curious- other than the symbolism... what does a collar actually do? Scripted collars contain animations in them -- some of them a wide variety of animations such as kneeling poses, restraint poses, crawling poses, as well as leashing features (ie, a visible in-world leash tethering the sub/slave to the Mistress/Owner). The commands can be tailored to respond only to certain people (ie, so that one's Mistress can issue a command which "forces" the wearer to kneel), and the collars can be locked (they are generally always removable by the wearer, but a locked collar will notify the Owner by means of an IM if it is removed).

From: Amaranthim Talon Sorry for the silly question- but curious- other than the symbolism... what does a collar actually do? Generally they are loaded with various bdsm poses. Also they are scripted such that the dom/me can be given control over the collar, thereby giving them control over the sub. Or so I've read.

Problem solved
07-16-2008 09:16
Hey everyone, thank you all so much for your replies!!! Qie Niangao solved my problem just a moment ago...the scripts in the collar were (No Modify) so I was unable to look at them, thinking it might be mispelling of the words. The solution eventually came down very simply. Inside the collar (right click > Edit > Contents) there were 2 notecards, which I just assumed were the same that came with it. One of those was a "`Commands`" notecard, and because I got a notecard with my purchase that was "Collar - Commands" I automatically assumed they were they same but they weren't! The "`Commands`" notecard had a whole different list of commands, and the first one was " 'collaron " which now allows the Master or Mistress to use it.
So! When in doubt, read the stupid little note cards in the item, even if they have the same name as the note card you got with purchase LOL
Again, my thanks to everyone here.. SL truely has one of the best and most helpful communities I've ever seen and everyone has my thanks ^_^
Hope to see ya in-world!
