Can't buy currency?

I'm a little confused here.. I signed up yesterday, and today I finally had my cc added so I could go premium. Then, ya know.. I need money so I can get the stuff I need for my look.

But then I get this message: "This transaction would exceed your daily billing limit by US$77. You have already billed US$72.00 of your daily billing limit US$25.00. "

If I understand this right I will be able to get hold of money tomorow? But only the amount equal to $25? I also had plans of buying some land (a nice plot next to a buddy of mine) but it will cost me a bit more than $25... Is there a way around this that I don't see?

It'll take a few days for your limits to be lifted. Buy what you can today, then buy some more tomorrow...they'll be lifted in a couple of days.

Perhaps during that time, you can think about the wisdom of purchasing land. I strongly recommend you don't - chances are very good that you'll never sell it for what you paid for it. And depending on who you are "buying" from, if they're disreputable, you may get screwed out of it completely.

Unless it's mainland, of course.

And if you're flat out convinced you need to do this, set up an account with slexchange.com and buy your money there. It has a $250 limit.

Oh the land buying is not an issue, it is mainland with a close friend on one side and protected land on the other. I either get my claws on this plot or no plot.

A few days, huh? Good grief... :( I am hesitant to buy currency from any 3rd party, I must admit.

Another thing I find confusing is the options on the account page. You have "buy account credit" and then there is the"linden dollar exchange settings" which direct you to a somewhat different looking page for buying currency. What are the differences here?

Any money you put into the "credit" section gets spent first on things like tier.

You just want to buy money - not put things in the credit section.

SLX is about as safe as buying from LL. And its fast, with better rates. They are the ONLY 3rd party I'd consider.

I second this.

The credit limits are the way they are to minimize fraud...it's not as profitable for someone buying L$ with a stolen credit card and reselling someplace like eBay when they can't make a big purchase right away. I mean, the chances increase that the card will be reported and closed as time goes by.

Go to the Linden Dollar Exchange to purchase L$, not the 'Increase Your Credit' link.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Ok the confusion has been lifted. I also talked to the seller and had the land reserved for me, so the stress of maybe seeing it yanked away right under my nose has also been lifted. :)

"Any money you put into the "credit" section gets spent first on things like tier."

In other words I can (later..) add funds here and not have to worry about the tier as it will be taken from here automatically, and not from my cc? Did I get that right? (And yes, my plot to be is larger than the minimum 512 sqm, so there WILL be tier. :p )

Yes, as will next year's membership fees and/or any L$ purchases you make via the LindeX...the system checks your credit balance before it goes out to your payment method.
