I'm not sure if this is the right place to post but will try.
I've decided to try to make my own SL wedding invitations. I do know photoshop so could do the pics and text there.......But....I've never built anything before in Sl except a snowman in Basic Building 101 class.
I want to learn how to make a two-part card that opens like a book and can also be enclosed in an envelope. Does anyone know what I should search for in-world for a class to learn how to do this...or better yet where can I post this question on the forums?
Thanks so much to anyone who has some input.

Personally I've never seen a wedding invitation like that, sounds interesting.

Im not sure how to do the envelope, but to make the card open, could a script which swings the card like it is on hinges when someone clicks it help? Maybe similar to a door script? Maybe the scripters would be able to help you there....Im not sure of classes...

I was thinking just like Claire - use a door script. There is a freebie door on SLX, or likely to be one down in the scriping forums.

I'm no scripter, but I think you could make an envelope that when clicked rezzed the card, and the opening of the card could be done with a door script like Claire said.
There are several free door scripts around that should do it.

Get a thinc book -- they're 75L -- if you want copy/trans versions after you decide what you want to do - -find me in world and I'll run it through the printing press so that you can hand them out.

I have class notes/supplies from a class on making a valentine card. It seems from looking at the supplies to be two sided and there is also a script for the envelope. Maybe it will work using your textures. I am boxing it up now and will send it to you in world.

How about a prim in front of the card that when clicked would go transparent?

Was thinking the same thing and you beat me to it I took a class on making Christmas cards and it works really well.

Indeed you can use a door script to open the card, I could drop you one. Just keep in mind that to rotation is from the center of the prim, so you need to cut a prim, so only half of it is invisible (path cut). If you want I do have a script for that. Furthermore you can indeed make a script to rez the invitation out of the envelope Good luck, Marcel

One possible solution would be to get the two prims made so they open (per the door script). Then make the textures those of an envelope. When it's touched, the script would change the textures to those of the card and open up.
You may want to go to the scripting forums, either for suggestions, or possibly find someone who could do it for you.

From: Czari Zenovka Was thinking the same thing and you beat me to it I took a class on making Christmas cards and it works really well. Maybe you should toss your's at her too. It could be easier. The class I went to was pretty intro level, but there are about 6 scripts or so with it. I haven't tried to make one since the class and don't recall if it was a challenge or not. I do remember the end result was pretty cool.

Luluk if you decide after all this that you would like to try something easier, I have a beautiful wedding invitation (with roses, wine bottle etc.) that you just change the floating text over and landmark giver. I also have free bouquet's I've been making with the holding script. I have wedding rings, wedding dresses....anything else you need?
