Problems with new Windlight Client

I just downloaded the new Windlight client and it is giving me some problems. Any change of resolution or attempting to minimize the screen when in full screen mode results in a crash.

Even stranger, the texture of a house I own is messed up but if I log in with the non-Windlight RC client it looks fine. Here is a link to it...

Does anyone know where I can download the previous version?

I can't reproduce the crash on minimize from full screen, but I can verify that objects I've created using 'planar' texturing are not displaying the textures correctly.

I'm sorry I can't help with a prior version download since this was a required update we won't be able to run a prior version.

Thanks Charlene, I missed it being a required update. I'll use a non-Windlight client for a bit and see what shakes out.

I've opened the following JIRA. Please vote on it, get your friends and alts to, as well.

You can use a previous version if you add Nicholaz's fixes to Windlight (one of the fixes is making "mandatory" updates optional!) :)

The prior download links to the viewers still work, I'm sure someone will be along shortly with the proper URL for the last one.

Oooh, lovely squint textures there Gabby, funnily enough I've been having a similar problem with a build I'm working on. A small section of roof refuses to align with the rest of the roof and remains squint. Even more frustrating is that I don't even use Windlight!!

I shall probably wander over to the builders/texturers forum at some point.

Well they not fixed my problems with WindLight, so back to the normal viewer still.

My problems are Camera/movement cotrols now in a silly place on screen, I drag them to good place but they not lock there, they moved again on relog.
Music goes off when I TP to another place.
The IM recieved not flashing, not checked as not had an IM, is flashing again for you, or not fixed?

I'm having trouble with my friends list, unless all my friends have now changed their names to Hippo. Also, any lists in the friends/group page or on people's profiles are a real problem. I can see the first item on the list but all subsequent items are obscured by either dark grey or bright white highlighting.

June, are those all documented in one or more JIRAs? They need to be there in order to make sure that LL know about them and work on them.

Well Im not a paying member to Linden so I can't contact thier Support, all I can hope is others who do pay have the problem too and contact Linden Support. I have seen others mention these problems in this forum.

PS
I did look at the lists on JIRAs but there were many pages and lots on each page and after first page I gave up.

June, you don't have to be a Premium member - if you can post on these forums you can access and file JIRAs. That is the most effective way of letting LL know.

Try searching the JIRA system for keywords. If it's windlight, there is only one page of Windlight-related items. Browse through them, and see if any of them fit your problem, and vote for them to be fixed. It all helps.

No, no, Windlight is still experimental, so they sort of expect things to not work, and they want to know of them through the JIRA system. LL can't test every possible combination of computer, internet connection and can't go everywhere in-world to test their software, so they get volunteers to do it and let them know, via the JIRA system, what doesn't work.

If you are prepared to work around the glitches, then fine, but otherwise you should go back to the regular released client (which isn't Windlight, of course) until the Windlight version is more stable and thoroughly resident-tested.

02-13-2008 20:59
Yes ANY Change In Resolution Crashes Me... A Preference Change Or A Toggle Into Or Out Of Full Screen.. As For The textures, I Only JUST Noticed Them.. But Thanks.. Just Proves I'm Not The Only One.

I seemed to have found a solution to the crashing problem on screen resolution change. I went into hardware options under the graphics tab in settings and disabled VBO. That seemed to resolve the problem for me. With the exception of the messed up textures the new Windlight client seems to be running decently for me now.
