I hope this isn't too trivial for the forum, but I'd appreciate hearing about some good places to go in SL which emphasize nature -- forests, parks, mountains, tropical islands, reefs, even on other planets.

I've been to the famous Svarga, which is great.

Thanks.

Here's some for you Flieger:

Botanical (Straylight 197,12,37)

Acropolis Gardens (Delia 201,53,138)

Secret Reflections (Secret Reflections 126, 129, 39)

That should give you a good start. I'm sure more will be posted soon.

Hi,

First ones that come to mind are:
Botanical Gardens,
Midnight Reflections and its neighbours
Acropolis
Serenity Woods
Apollo

and many more.
You could try typing in "garden" in search, should throw up a good few places to explore.

Have fun!

ETA........ was a bit slow there :p

and for a nice peaceful snowy hilltop (Governer Linden Land, Zero builds) try Cloudmont... I know boring, but it's nice for a change (and a good TP spot when other regions fail)

Dragon Moon.

Wander through the forest, up the hill along the side of the stream, and seek out the baby dragons in their nest.

I'm biased, but I'm fond of Livingtree as far as natural settings.

I also rather like Straylight, as well as ground level in Avaria and Pillow Talk.

Edited to add: Also check out the Rodeo Forest, an Commonwealth Island.

Some of the unsold newer sims, still belonging to Governor Linden, are attractive - all they usually have is trees and terrain. But some nice empty beaches.

Another vote for the Avaria sims: Avaria Tor, Avaria Sav and Avaria Kro - you'll TP in at Grendel's Children (a wonderful destination in itself). Jump off any open walkway and land in the sims below, which have savannahs, desert canyons, and caves.

Lyonnesse - a small sim, with a peaceful open landscape of ponds and hills. Some parts are closed to visitors. Interesting weather.

Rua - underwater marine life

Rodeo - Forest of Kahruvel - too many dwellings to be called a nature area, but a fine forest and great thunderstorms.
