Is there some program that allows one to play "dress up" offline?

I was wondering if the lindens or anyone else had a program that would allow one to download one's avatar and inventory and play with various clothing items while off line?
Obviously it would have to be done in such a way that one couldn't rip other people's creations to one's hard drive and then access them, but I just want to be able to see what outfits work without the lag and endless IMs of being online.
Ideally this program would be for Mac.

I used to want something like this when we had Wednesday updates. Some kind of offline mode to do things while the server was down. There really isn't any way to do this unfortunately because all those clothes are on the server.

I take it Busy and Away don't help with the IM problem?
One of the third party viewers, I think it's Cool Viewer, let's you remove the IMs from the console chat. Just don't open the IM window at all and maybe that would help.
To reduce lag, go to somewhere empty, like a big corporation's SL site.

Maybe the preview grid is still up when the main grid goes down.

From: Cristalle Karami Maybe the preview grid is still up when the main grid goes down. Yes, they could go somewhere relatively empty like the preview grid, or somewhere even emptier, like a big corporation's site on the main grid. That's a joke. Seriously, the preview grid would get rid of IM's, and I usually find that overall it works about as fast subjectively as the main grid or better. Problem is that is that you won't have items newly purchased on the main grid in the preview grid.

While this isnt SL, there are other modeling programs that allow you to dress up people http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d_models/overview?_m=dHowever, it wont be as easy to use as SL since they arn't avatars, just models that you pose in Daz.

I just dug and dug for it, there was, I had it for a while. It wasn't very good, but it would allow you to test clothing before upload, so if you had the image files for the clothing, then yes you could use it offline. Either way it was a good year ago, I forget what it was called, and it didn't sync with SL anyway, it would with Photoshop, it was more of a clothing maker's tool. Either way, I think it is now gone. I can't find it anyway.
