Hello! My friend had the chance to move into a fantastic house a few weeks back, and quickly set about decorating to her taste. I provided just a bench from my inventory for a spot under a tree. Now, 2 days ago this property got sold and no warning was given to her....(if it makes a difference, she had moved in with a guy who decided to just run away.....the property did belong to him according to the land tools) When the place got sold, my bench got returned, picture frames another friend provided were returned, but none of her furniture has come back at all. If he sold the place with all objects, can he just sell stuff that isnt his? I kind of thought you had to own it all to sell it. Anyway, my best advice for her was to wait it out and see if the linden gods will get this stuff returned (sometimes may take a bit). But, if for some reason this stuff is gone, how does one go about getting these items back? Is a call to linden labs in order here? As for this guy who ran away....the mute button will probably become his best friend. Any advice? Thanks, Furry

If her furniture was no transfer it doesn't always get returned and the person returning the items does get a warning about this.

Did she get anything back? Items are generally returned as coalesced objects, so something that says, for example, 'chair' may actually be the entire living room set. These objects usually go to the Lost and Found folder, but have sometimes also been reported to show up in the 'Objects' folder.

Check your lost & found folder. Sometimes items returned en masse get grouped together as a single 'object'. Res them out and see if your stuff isn't in there with it.

Ok, that will be my first question to her. I know for sure that she had a red japanese maple from botanical, as i was there when she bought it. I will check mine when i am inworld to see if that is a transfer item or not. (offhand I think it isnt) The rest of the furniture I really wouldn't know......kind of sucks that she has been going about and getting this stuff for her last 3 places only to have it all go poof in an instant. I cant wait to find this guy........

Yes, already asked her if she had a box that looked like a few boxes stuck together...checked in lost and found, had her check the folders the stuff came in as sometimes my junk gets returned from their origin.....checked trash..etc If it isn't back today, she will need to take another step i am afraid. Thanks

Look in your lost and found and drag the most recent items out of your inventory . It will show an icon that looks like a bunch of blocks together.. Rather than the normal 1 box icon.. everything should be in that big bundle.. Maybe drag them out in a sand box where you can see everything and nothing gets returned due to property lines etc

Something very much like this happened to me once. I was renting and LL decided they didn't like the paperwork transferring the island I was renting on from the old owner, to the new owner (whom I was renting from.) Logged on one day to find the whole island just POOF. Along with all my stuff. I got SOME of it back via L&F (including some composite items), but some were just disappeared and I never got them back. I know that my rental agent was given a few minutes to go to the island and return everybody's stuff, and I know she did that. But some of my (most expensive, no copy) items were just gone. Never saw them again. I submitted a ticket to LL, but got no joy. I was finally able to get financially reimbursed for the most expensive items by the rental agent, and supposedly she was reimbursed by LL, but I have no way of knowing whether that really happened.

I had many items get returned that the name changed on the object... Sometimes they will just be labeled "Object" in the lost and found. If it is a couch with a pose ball rezzer then the the couch may have been renamed to whatever the pose ball name was. If the pose ball was named Sit then the entire couch may be named sit... I learned this the hard way after deleting several things in lost and found named "object" just thinking they where parts of builds I was doing not realizing they where full objects. I found this out by accident one day as I was cleaning inventory and rezzing all the objects in my lost and found to see what they where... Many where things I thought I lost but just got renamed.
Would be nice if they warned you that things may get renamed if returned.

Having just had a storage trunk with 1,000's of lindens of avatar/clothing items in it just "poof" off my mainland parcel, my heart goes out to you all.
The tip about the missing item sometimes going by a different name in inventory is a good thing to know - I'm going to go back through my inventory with a fine tooth comb.
Also, I know I'm "trigger happy" where my trash folder is concerned, so I think I'll keep it around awhile longer before deleting it.
I hope all of you who have lost items get them back...this is one of the most frustrating (for me) parts of SL.

Just a few days ago I discovered that the folder for my Photostudio was gone, along with all the posing stands, model anims, light fixtures that I use as tools. Fortunately, almost everything was either freebies or copies of anims I have stored elsewhere, but it's going to be a real pain to re-assemble or re-build everything I lost.
I have no idea whether I accidentally deleted the entire folder or whether it was lost due to a server asset issue. Just another of those little uncertainties that makes SL so... interesting, in a maddening aggravating way.
