Specifically, what happens to landmarks pointing to spots within that Region? Will they still work? Forever or for a limited time? Or dothey instantly become obsolete when the rename occurs? Thanks in advance for any help.  -- Miro |

Since the region no longer exists, the landmarks stop working.

They work for a short period of time. But not forever. I've used old LM's to travel to sims that have been moved and to sims that have been renamed. In both cases, they didn't work after a few weeks had passed. But they will work for at least a few days to a week.

When I sold off my sim, the new owner renamed the region. My landmarks worked for at least a few months that I recall, altho I no longer have any of them to test if they would still work now (this happened more then 2 years ago and I prune my landmarks folder regularly). When I would bring up the landmarks in the MAP's dropdown list or from my inventory, it would point to an "Invalid Location" but would still be centered on my old sim. I could still use the landmark to tp to the sim.
Fast forward 2 and a half years and there is actually a different sim named what I had originally named my sim, so then yes eventually sim names could get reused. I can't for the life of me remember what the new owner renamed my sim, so I can't look for it now, but I'll ask my partner if he's got any of the old landmarks (he's a pack-rat so chances are fairly good).
