Hi all,
Have just tried installing the software however when i try and open the second life it won't open.
It goes through the process as if it is going to but nothing happens, i then tried unistalling it to try again but it said the program was running.
I'm on xp operating system and the laptop is only 2 years old.
Help appreciated!

Help appreciated! If you could post your laptop's system specs, that would help. SL runs fine on XP, but we need to know RAM, gfx card and processor as well. Internet connection type and speed would be helpful, too. If it says it's running, hit ctrl-Alt-del and shut it down through that, or better yet, restart your computer and see if you get the same problem. Also, where is it shutting down? Do you see the log-in screen and it won't log you in, or does it just freeze up when you double click the start icon?

SL can also be cranky about wireless connections, if you happen to be using one.

Oh, and some files have to be removed manually if you want to do a complete uninstall and reinstall. The one at C:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\Application Data\SecondLife can be particularly prone to acquiring bad data.
