Yes, this happens to me from time to time.

Not sure why, but at least you are getting the emails to keep you aware of what is coming in.

I get it once in a while, but my biggest issue with IM right now is that it keeps saying "so and so is typing" when they aren't typing or they had sent something that I didn't get.

I have the same issue, as you describe, only the other way arround :p
I get IM's but not through email, while this is enabled in my account settings (on the website).
So when i'm not online for a while, and someone IM's me (or group notices for that matter), i have no clue he/she/they did sent me something, untill i log in again. (and my screen get's filled up with lines of text)

IMs over a certain number get 'capped'. I believe someone said once they go over 100, but I am not sure if that the correct number. It's normal and no, you can't do anything about it, except to do what you already do, turn on IM to email so you don't miss any.

Make sure tjhat the email address you gave LL is the same email address where you are looking for IMs. Also check your Edit/Preferences/Communication settings.

Yes, don't worry, it's the right address, and it worked for over a year without hassle, untill now.

yes, there is a throttle set, on when to cap im's. However, if capped, you should not receive anything. So her problem is still odd.
She DOES receive IM's still, but only in EMAIL. that tells me, that it isn't capped at all.

Any ideas, anyone?

Yeah I get both.. the missing IM.. even in the middle of a conversation. I also seem to be prone to seem to be seen typing when in reality I am waiting for someone to respond to what I just typed..

No, thats incorrect. Once the cap is hit, you will still get the IMs to you email. you just won't get them in SL after that point.

I'm thankful it works this way, My whole customer service system would falter if I was missing IMs.

but, will this cap be removed at some point? or will it stay there permanently?
