Hello all, I'm starting an SL magazine/blog and I'm looking for a simple url giver (preferably modifyable so I can make it look like a magazine kiosk). I've done some searching and shopping around and found lots of notecard givers, etc but have not had as much luck with url givers (that will send visitors to my website), although I've seen them in use in various spots.
Can anyone recommend a store or scriptor who sells these? Or is this something that even a scripting-challenged individual like myself should be able to create on my own?
(I know this might be more of an "items wanted" post, but folks here have been very helpful in the past so I thought I'd giv it a shot).

If I'm not mistaken, there's no such thing as a URL giver, because a URL isn't an item like a notecard or landmark. You could put the URL on a notecard and give that, or you could have the kiosk 'say' the URL into chat.

Phil, you're mistaken. string text = "Click to get the \"Cool SL\" Viewer for Second Life. Nicholaz, RestrainedLife and more, all rolled into one! Available in Standard and Windlight!";
string url = "http://sldev.free.fr/";
default {
touch_start(integer numdetected) { llTriggerSound("8eae9c2b-3caa-477c-964d-c3752c23eddb", 1); //standard click sound llLoadURL(llDetectedKey(0), text, url); }
}
I highly reccommend that URL givers, and in fact all "givers" should make a noise when clicked.. The reason is, it gives a "continuity" to the thing the user clicked, making them realise that "yes, clicking that DID do something".... and helps them realize that the blue dialog that pops up a second later was something they "asked for".. If more touch givers made a little sound, I suspect there'd be less customers accidentally muting shop owners.

So it's not a URL giver as such - it's a URL opener.

You can put a webpage onto a prim as a texture now, if it's on your land, through about land / media options - but I think it just does a single webpage. You'd have to subdivide your land and enter a different url for each plot if you want to show multiple webpages!
