Well... I am a bit lost LOL
I thought that event discussion was for placing notices about events, and now after checking closer on the different options, it seems special attractions is the one...but according to the views there, no one even hardly looks.

I usually just check events in world, and once in awhile peek at the event discussions...
(my take is if I want to know about an event, I will find it but am now confused as to where to look LOL)
could be a lot of stuff I am missing cuz I am looking in the wrong place

so my question is....
if one wants to post on the forums about an event which is the proper place to put it (and no I am not trying to dredge up any old threads and arguments, I am truly confused), or do folks just look in the events listings and skip the forums?

Also if one has an all day type event, how would one go about listing that, as the events listing doesn't want you to use that if it is all day and/or not hosted....

classifieds do not make sense for something that one is going to be giving away money at. (being classifieds cost even only 50L it still costs)

so where do you guys look most when trying to find fun things to do?

In the absence of hard statistics, I'll make some up based on experience: the majority of people who attend scheduled events in world find out about them (surprise!) in world, mainly either through Search or group notices.

I'll be honest, I never look at the 'Events' part of the forums. Once I log in, I usually get a whole bunch of suggestions sent to me by groups I have joined. Or I just check my emails before going inworld. That along with exploring usually tides me over. When I'm bored, I sometimes check out the Events tab in Search.

Maybe you can start a group and invite like-minded people to join. Once the group is established (this may take time but is worth it), you can send out info on upcoming events. Some who pop by will bring friends, and so on. You could call it 'Pinball Wizards' or something. If you can come up with something original and fun, people will join the group.
Some of the groups I'm in don't send out anything, so I would definitely drop a group for one that is more active.

The right place to post an event is indeed the "Special Attractions" part of the forums. I've often been tempted to post an event there for a public flogging of Philip Linden just to see if anyone does read them. Folks who read the forums by hitting "New Posts" would see the listing, at least.

A LOT of people look at SL's event calendar (either inworld or here on the website, I've always assumed they were the same info).

Don't know about all-day listings.

Probably the forumites aren't terribly typical in what we attend ... we would depend more on word-of-mouth here than on the public events calendar.

thanks for the views folks

I might do just that, set up a notificiation list thing (not SL group, I have subscribe o matic, I dislike SL groups LOL)

but it is not for the arcade, so the pinball wizards would not work....
oh I would love to have a pinball game in the arcade, GRRR I wish I was a whiz at scripting LOL
