I have been asked to trade my first piece of land with someone else. (They want to expand their business.) Do I get monthly fees charged to me if I make the trade. The land I have now is my first. No fees. Thanks.

if you have premium, you will always have 512m for free, whether first land or not.. first land was just cheaper

Hi there, welcome to SL.

My first thought on your question is to take more precaution in this area as once you have given someone possession of your land and money did not exchange hands, there is nothing LL will do. I suggest you both agreeing to an amount, say 4000L for a 512 that each of you can purchase from the other. Be sure THEY do the transaction first, or you will be charged 3 usd for tiering up, which means holding 1024 at some point of the month, even if its for 30 seconds.

If they do not have the tier to perform the transaction, then I advise finding a friend with some spare tier, that you trust, to help. Good Luck!

just a note on the "trading" part

don`t

sell them the land and buy from them the other piece of land for the same price, don`t sell at L$1, not at L$100 but full price
don`t trust anyone else with ur money

Quoted for truth.

I don't know the details of the deal, but use some common sense and protect yourself.

Exactly so. Under all circumstances sell the land for a realistic price and buy the other piece at the same price. DO NOT sell the land for a deflated price. You may never see the second half of the transaction completed ,,, and in that case you would have lost a substantial amount of L$.

Lindal,

Raymond's proposal was to get info in-world to those who aren't savvy to the forums, not replace any and all land questions in here. I'd hate to see land questions and discussions disappear just because there's somewhere else that one can also get the information. Correct me if I'm wrong, Ray.

I'd agree with you personally.. especially considering there is somewhere you can find the answers to most likely every question ever asked here, if you look hard enough

Avion, Okiphia, I wasn't trying to "get rid of all land questions here". But I didn't know the answer to that question for sure myself, and Ray's group was the first group of experts that came to mind, who I knew for sure would have the answer.

What are you exchanging your land for? Is this just a straight cash transaction, or are you swapping your land for some of his land?
If your swapping, try to make sure his land has indeed been set for sale to you for a nominal amount before you do the same.
Oh, I forgot, you have to sell your land to him first, or you will indeed have to pay L$5 monthly tier, as you will briefly own more than 512m2.
So you have to be careful. Have a witness with you if you can.
Oh, just ask Raymond!

Wow. Thanks for all the advice. It's supposed to be land for land, but I didn't realize all the little tricks. She seems to have a nice business going, but I won't be gullable. Your advice will come in handy.

I apologize if I put this on the wrong board. SL is a bit overwhelming when you're first diving in. ;-).

Thanks again!

Oh, and if you do go ahead with this, it might be wise to have someone with you to act as a witness. I'm sure people here would be willig to help out, me included:)

And rather than doing this L$ 1 per parcel, do it for a normal price, say L$ 5000. Sell yours first so you're not lumped with tier because you've owned two parcels for a few seconds, then buy his plot for the same price.

Again, good luck.

No worries. The inworld help will not replace the help we give here. It's for when people are inworld and need their questions answered mainly.

To the OP, make sure the new parcel you are getting is not larger in size enough to take you to a higher tier level. Also, sell your land first (at a fair price like others have stated) before buying theirs.
