Hey guys,
I'm new, and for some reason when I right-click (or ctrl-click, since I'm on a Mac) on an object, I don't get the menu of available actions. For example, I'm trying to get on a raft, and when I ctrl-click on it I get the selection beam but I don't get a menu where I can select "sunbathe." Any ideas?
Thanks!

Try cmd-click.

It may be a glitch with the current build. I experienced the exact same thing yesterday for the first time ever. Actually had to re-boot the computer (G5 PowerMac) to cure the issue.

There seems to be a few faults and freezes which require a re-boot of OS X to rectify. Sometimes a log-off and log-on solves the problem, but sometimes not. The ultimate clue that you must re-boot comes when the log-on screen is not the usual one (landscape) but a massive SL hand with no statistics or blog listing. trying to log-on then is futile, just re-boot and the log-on screen is fixed, and so is the fault or freeze you were originally experiencing. (I have no idea what this secondary log-on screen is called, but it seems to be a return to some original obsolete client which no longer works. Be much nicer to have an error message -- "We are borked to kingdom come. You must re-start your computer."

mmmmmm, interesting, I've not encountered either of these phenomena. I'm using the latest build, on a new iMac. The viewer has been mostly stable, only the occasional client crash, certainly the OS has never been effected, and I've never had to re-boot to cure any problems.

I'm on a two year old PPC mini with weak graphics, and I've only had one time in 8 months where SL crashed so bad I had to reboot the computer.
I do occasionally get the "big hand" alternate login screen. The normal login screen is actually a web page, so it can't be shown when my DSL is offline. As a result, the "big hand" screen is just evidence of a broken net connection, which is why it is usually also accompanied by an inability to login. However, on at least one occasion the LL web servers were down but the grid was up... when that happened, I got the "big hand" screen, but was still able to login.

I have the latest SL viewer on one of the newest iMacs and I have had some very annoying complete system lockups. As near as I can tell it happens when I have SL going, with streaming audio enabled (i.e. at a party or club) and also will occur when I have SL going at the same time as the Miglia Eye-TV software. I'm sure there's something screwy with the way SL does everything non-standard, but this is the first time it's caused complete system lockups. Three or four of them since 1.18.3.5 or whatever the current viewer is.
On the topic at hand though, SL and its non-standard ways of doing things, to get Right-click in SL use Command-Click. Every other Mac program & the OS uses ctrl-click but for SL it's command-click.
