I cannot find an answer to this question anywhere. In the advanced menu, what does "reload personal setting overrides" do ?

I think this reloads the configuration as it existed when you started the client, discarding any changes to preferences from the current session.

That's a pretty obscure one =) In your SL user directory, the one containing settings_per_account.xml, you can create a secondary settings file and name it overrides.xml. You would use that debug menu item to load it. Since most people won't have an overrides.xml, it normally doesn't do anything.
