Ok, could someone please tell me what an Ad Farm is, it sounds self explanatory, but I'm bound to have it all wrong?

So where did the terminogolgy 'ad farm' come from? Why is it a 'farm'? Who gets to name these things? In future If anyone gets to name anything then it should be me, seeing as I am so great and all that.

Wellll... when you take a plot and chop it up into 16s, it looks like rows. Used to be, some of these folks would "plant" an ad of some kind on every 16, so it looked like a field of ads growing out of the ground, hence "adfarms". Some parts of the practice have been killed due to the policy in February, but the overall activities have accelerated to the point where this is pretty much the #1 mainland issue. Thus, we now have attention focused on the problem where it is most desperately needed.

why does this sound like Mckay when he tried coming up with a great name for puddlejumper 1,or anything else he tries to name for that matter.
