Allowing group members to change media URLs

It seems to me that a group member with the ability to change media URLs checked in group abilities should be able to change the media URL on land set to group, no? This did not seem to work for me. Is there some step I'm missing?

I believe said land has to be deeded to the group. Parcel permissions won't work if it's just "set" to group.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's how it is.

Nope. Only on land DEEDED to the group.

A prim owned by the landowner, with a script to allow group members to chat/notecard a media URL would do it.
It would be a minimalist 'radio tuner'

Land still needs to be deeded to the same group as scripted object, no?

my land is just set group and the mixer (stream changer) I have works it needs to be set to allow through a note card and also the scripted prim (mixer) needs to be deeded to group.

there are many radios out there that will work and then some that wont.

No.
The land in this case is owned by an avatar, and not by a group.
The owner can change the media streams.
A prim owned by the avatar land owner can 'do stuff' that the landowner can do.

This is the same as a deeded prim doing stuff for group-owned land.

Wrong.

Shared agent owned radios can be used by others.

Even "none" = "same group" if both set the same.

i think using a radio is different than changing the media stream though the "about land" thingie manually..

probably it's more akin to what Sling was talking about..

Thanks, Sling, by the way, for explaining a little more for me ^_^

All the multimedia systems I have installed said clearly that for them to work at all on Group-owned land, the radio/TV Tuner has to be deeded to the group. If the land is owned by an individual, then yes, a tuner owned by the land owner can be used by other people to change parcel streams.

But Marianne's question was not about device-assisted parcel media changes. It was whether or not the group role permission for setting the media URL would allow individuals to change the stream, if the land was only set to group. And the answer there remains that for most group roles to function on a parcel, the group must OWN the land. The land must be deeded to the group, or the group role permissions are meaningless.
