I have an alt who is premium, mostly created for testing purposes and for the formation of a group to have group owned land. The group only has one other member, and that's my RL/SL partner. Currently the group owns a 4608 plot, so still have the 10% available to buy. My alt has contributed her "free" 512 tier to the group, and there is a 512 plot I am eyeing to buy for the group. First question: Does my alt have to be the one who buys the land for group? Or can my main do it, without increasing her tier as long as it is "purchased for group"? Also, if I were to puchase the 512 plot, the groups total holdings would be 5120, so the 10% of that is, of course, 512. Could I then downgrade my alt to basic without having to sell a 512 plot off the land to make up for her donated tier? In other words, since the group would then be eligible for 512 "extra" because of total group owned land, would the alt downgrading endanger that?

You can give your alt or even friend who isn't premium land buying rights. I have done it myself.

OK - that brings up an interesting question for me--- right now I am at my max before jumping tier. All the land is owned by me and not any of it is donated to group - if I donate it to group, does that free up more land buying rights? Is that what I am understanding from the above?

Is that what I am understanding from the above? if land is owned by a group, LL "gives" an additional 10% in tier to the group free of charge. remember that a group MUST contain at least 2 avies. if a group drops down to 1 avi it will be deleted. and the land it owns will revert to the "guv".

edit: so by going basic, your alt will remove 563 tier from the group. Thanks for the response. Right..I think I understand what you mean by that. However, if at the time I downgrade my alt, the group owns a 5120 plot, then 10% of that is the group land bonus, which would be 512. So, if the group is entitled to own that 512 as the "bonus" land, would I lose that 512 by downgrading my alt? I know I would lose her 512 tier, but would it be that extra 51 that would mean I should get rid of the 512 plot before I downgrade her or not because the group would already be entitled to the 512 just due to owning 5120SM? I'm probably not explaining that clearly enough...sorry, not sure how else to word it.

think of it this way...
the 10% tier bonus is figured on the currently contributed tier.
when the alt leaves the group ... 512 of the tier goes with him/her.
and 10% of that 512 goes too ... another 51 tier in this case.
so by the alt leaving the group, your tier will be reduced not by just 512 but by 563.
better to sell off the land first before reducing any tier. just to be safe.

I think I'll just keep her premium since between the two stipends, one of the premium accounts is "paid for". Either that or try to overcome my prim addiction and resist buying that other 512 plot.

Maybe a prim addiction support group...."Hi, my name is Sunni Jewell and I'm addicted to prims" <sob> Everyone else: "HI, SUNNI". But until then, maybe I should add that to my profile, too.
