To what degree are caches shared when running multiple accounts?

Are our SL caches shared when running multiple accounts in such a way that one could preload a destination by running multiple accounts and sending one to a destination, thus causing the content to load into the cache, switch back to your main account, and when you send that one to the destination site, the content will be loaded?

Could you run multiple accounts and have one nearby, looking in a different direction, or zoomed a bit further out, and thus not have the problem of turning your head and seeing gray loading textures because they've already been loaded into the cache by the other viewer instance?

They are the exact same folder, but I don't know how the cache is actually used by SL. My *guess* would be full sharing because all of the files appear to be simply the item UUID for its name. Given how long so many places rez these days, it should not be too hard to do a couple of experiments to find out.

I haven't looked for technical proof but empirical data suggests that there is no sharing at all. When I used to run an Nvidia 6600 card on an older computer I would crash and burn within 30 minutes running 2 accounts. A friend taught me the trick of dividing your normal bandwidth by the number of accounts to be run. For example if you normally use 500 kbps then set it to 250 kbps for running 2 accounts. Using that trick I had no problems running 4 accounts for over 3 hours as a test.

EDIT: Let me rephrase that. Even though there is sharing, it is still the same amount of data coming into each account.

DOUBLE EDIT: See my disclaimer on bottom, Going to bed after this post :p Totally missed point of OP's post. Sorry SuezzanneC!

When running multiple viewers, the cache is put into "read-only" mode, ostensibly to prevent two viewers from deadlocking (trying to write to the same file at the same time). No pre-loading occurs at all.
