has anyone every heard of a way you can chat to people on sl without actually logging on to the normal browser?? say like ebuddy.com for msn???

There is not a real chat program that I am aware of, I use Sleek when I need to do that, but that is just no graphics SL client. Your avatar is still logged in, you just cannot see anything.. But you can chat and IM.. |

There is no way to chat per se, but if you need to get a message to someone, zonkster.com works. It's basically a message delivery service, though. You wouldn't use it for chat. Also, if they IM you when you're offline, you can respond and play email chat, which is slow and cumbersome, but better than nothing.

There is a product called ChatBridge on SLX.
which does what you want (I think). There is a version for multiple Friends. I actually won a copy of it yesterday (long story!) but am undecided if I want it  - it seems to me it would be a bit like taking your (work) mobile phone on holiday..._____________________
