From: someone
This week, Linden Lab announced that it was going to start charging listing fees and minimum commissions on its Second Life Xstreet Web-shopping adjunct in the near future. Within hours, vendors took down thousands of products, many abandoning the service entirely in favor of alternative services.

It's unclear just how many vendors have abandoned the Xstreet SL system, but it apparently was enough to temporarily overload the Web-sites of third-party sites such as Slapt.

Thanks for posting this. I would have missed it otherwise.

I've set up shop elsewhere, too

But I wonder if this only feeds into what LL set out to do:

Get rid of all the "clutter" as they call it. Now these other places may be come the discount basement of SL, leaving the high end stuff of those who can afford the fees with xstreet
Not only that, but people are doing it now rather than when these fees come into effect.

What remains to be seen is how many of the high end guys will pull out out of sheer protest. That is the only thing that might harm LL other than the crappy PR, which they are used to, anyway.

Wasn't all this predicted in the forum threads back when it was announced that LL were buying out XStreet and OnRez?

Rock

Edit: Of course it was: just read post #2
