Is just dumb! Why not at least two or...dare I say it three? Why would anyone buy a sofa with one sit anim? What are these people thinking?? It's very disappointed at times, as you think you've found exactly the right thing and then you check out the anims and one little sit. What's the use of that? I would think if you're going to design something you would make it realistic.

Yes but everybody's idea of high quality seems to be one person sitting SEDUCTIVELY on a couch.

You could add pillows that have a sit animations in them.. yes that would be more prims but if you really like the couch.....just a thought.

I used to sell what I called a "Conversation couch". A nice small leather couch that had three pose balls on it for relaxed conversational animations. It also had two matching chairs, also leather upholstered and with either a male or female conversation animation.
They didn't sell all that well, even though I got complements on them. *shrugs* Probably couldn't compete with all the stuff out there that also offered sex pose options, whereas mine was strictly G-rated. Oh well... I still use them in my building projects on occasion, but it isn't worth the effort for me to sell them. I will agree, however, that it is rather silly to sell a couch that only seats one person... _____________________

@ OP- you're just not shopping in the right places- I have several in inventory and none sit just one- there are cuddle ones and different gender sits and lays but none are just one person. And I do not have any sexual sofas- that's what the naughty rugs and bed are for

My biggest pet peeve with furniture is the sheer SIZE of it all. So many of the pieces out there look like they were built for giants. Oh well. Shop on, friends, shop on.

Believe me I'm looking, I'm a SHOPPER, a discerning one. Also have to take into consideration the specific design and price, many variables. What I mean is, everything else could be just exactly what I'm looking for and then one lil sit, so frustrating.

Are you sure it only has 1 animation? the scripts and animations in furniture would be in individual prims of the item. If you are going into Edit and checking Contents.. you would only see the animation in the prime prim. There could be animations in the other prims.
That's how I make my furniture... Also... I'm not an amazon avatar and my furniture is not made for them either. When I started building furniture I set out to make to them fit the "average avie" because I could only find LARGE pieces as well. When I sit.. my feet touch the floor and everything ![]() |

You can edit linked parts and look in each prim to see if there are more poses. Or, you should be able to target the various prims and choose sit. The animation in that prim will activate then (each seat on a couch for example). Because I don't use poseballs, I worry that people will get this impression from some of my pieces. I try to include info about pose locations and features in the item description field, but if people don;t have the mouse over text enabled, they won't see it. _____________________

But how do you do set mouse over text enabled? |

is it mod? if so add more sits to it, either via poseballs or get the script (free in the library) to add them to the prims of the couch
if you do not know how to do this, ask someone to teach you, or take some classes _____________________

As someone who makes couches with few sits, I can tell you my reason....I am great at making good looking couches and still learning about adding poses and animations. The texturing and making the stuff look good seems to come easy to me, but putting in those dang sits is a pain...lol. Try to remember that not all creators in SL have the same skill sets and capabilities. And keep checking back with them...they might improve their items as time goes one. You might also ask if you could purchase an item with mod perms so that you can add your own sits if that is someting you are good at.

I'm wondering if the 1-sit couches that OP found have a sit anim in them at all, or just a sit target - or even neither of those. I make versions of couches with and without anims. The prices are different, of course, and the versions without anims just have a sit target.

I'm surprised that, given the availability of a freeware animation engine like MLPv2, people are still buying the furniture and the animations bundled together. Why not buy the nice piece of furniture one place, and the animations one wants somewhere else?

I had a problem with something once (my own fault, buying an item in the middle of some SL hijinks going on, shouldn't have been trying to do a transaction right at that moment) and never received it. I IM'd you and you delivered it to me so fast made my head spin. Kudos to an honest SL business person. ![]() |

It's very disappointed at times, as you think you've found exactly the right thing and then you check out the anims and one little sit. What's the use of that? I would think if you're going to design something you would make it realistic. ![]() The main reasons are that it takes time, talent, and (for most people) money to add poses to furniture, and there are so many different types of customer with different desires for furniture. The reason someone would buy a sofa with one sit anim would be to add their own sits. As mentioned above, if it's mod, you can add your own and bake them into the item. But even if it's not, you can add poseballs or invisible prims to add a number of seating options, just not linked in. (You can still pick them up as a group to rez later, or move them as a group, just takes a bit more SL skills -- and not much more.) I sell a "jPose sofa cover" that you can set over a typical sofa, use its menu to make it invisible, and then you have a sofa with lots of options, though most not for casual conversation. More people should make things like this to add to furniture. However, it's hard to make a one-size-fits all solution to seating. I plan to be adding to my PG line, and there's a good chance I'll post it freebie. Don't hold your breath, though -- still have a few other items in the queue. |
