Woo hoo! loo-oong time since I started one of these I played with my little house. A freebie from TNT, must be thousands of them about. I ungrouped the objects. I changed textures. I regrouped. Not exactly brain surgery, right? I opened my front door ..... where's my front door?!? ..... over there, in the window. Damn! ... ungrouped, dragged the door back, regrouped ..... in the roof this time!!! Heee-eelp!!

This happens with the Timeless Door Script, the door has to be linked to another prim, and it is important which prim that is... door prim musn't be the root. Could it be that this is what has been used? http://rpgstats.com/wiki/index.php?title=LibraryTimelessLinkedDoor

"Please enjoy your trip through this door..."
I suspect that the door is setting it's local position and rotation relative to the root prim. When you ungrouped and regrouped, did you keep the same prim as the root?
I've run into this a lot when I'm building, as I change my mind about what prim should be root, then all my doors etc end up in exciting new locations.
If possible, either use the same prim as root, as the house originally had, or you may have to change / replace the script in the door so it will work in the new configuration.

I'm not personally familiar with TNT houses so this is a generic 'give it a try, it might work' kind of advice: drag the door back into place and then, with the door selected, do a tools->reset scripts in selection. As long as you don't ask it to make a cup of tea, it should be ok.

Thankyou all Ee, I'm pretty certain I haven't made the door prim the root on either occasion but this spurs the question .. with so many prims and using the drawbox in edit mode to select all before joining, how do I select which prim to be root? Do I deselect and reselect the one I wish, to make it the last selected? Atashi, ah that would explain why it's flown to two different places LOL Ravenhurst, I shall try the reset when I get home tonight thankyou. Again, thankyou

Thankyou Claire Right! I have a plan! I shall 'take' my house tonight due to prim limits, rezz a new one, find which blighter is the root, take that back, rezz my stone house and go from there. Woo hoo! only 15 months old and I'm finding out about root prims

lol have a look at natalia's blog in the building tuts. she explains about root prims. I think the best one I saw was in the first shoe tut. http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2006/12/day-94-creating-prim-shoes-part-1.html (i think it is about halfway down the page or more) To find the root prim already in the build, click on the house in edit mode, and the root prim will be the one in a different colour. You know how you get the mass of a blue and yellow outlines? The root is the yellow outline

hi bilbo, old neighbor *waves* i was back in the hood last night and took a tour to see what's going on. i was surprised to see the demise of the rental houses over on julia creek ... and the opening of a escort club. anyway, i noticed your door IN the roof. i thought it was just another wild party at bagg end.

And the Root Prim was ...

.. the door frame! kinda logical I guess. Ah well, all restored and correct thanks all. A word of warning to others: when in edit mode and selecting prims with control/click, be careful to frame the desired prim away from the rotation buttons! Bagg End went through a short Henry Moore/Picasso period last night!!
