How do I play music on my land?

Hiya,

I was wondering if someone coud help me - I want to play my own music in my shop but I can't figure out how to do it?

I don't want to stream a radio station or anything, just play some songs from my computer..

I'll need some easy to follow steps as I'm not the sharpest tool in the box when it comes to computers

I think to broadcast your own music you will have to use Shoutcast so that there is an URL to point the media to. There may be other services that will allow you to do this, but this is the only one I know of.

Thanks for your reply - Do you know if I can upload my own music onto shoutcast or will it be a radion station?

As far as I know, which isn't very far at all, you have to be running a server of some sort in order to stream. What you're doing is uploading music from your computer to the Shoutcast server, and then to the SL parcel, aka back to your computer. So, yes, you actually ARE running a stream. I wouldn't recommend it unless you're actually going to DJ an event or something like that, since you'll really bog down your bandwidth doing this. It's just easier to find a URL of a stream that you like and use that. Or play your radio at home.

[Edit: To find out how to run a server through Shoutcast, go to that website and read up on running a server. I looked at it once and it seemed like a major pain.]

live 365 used to have a system where you could upload mp3s and stream them like shoutcast.
