a chair is spamming me..help

for more than one year a chair has been spamming me...everytime i log in i find all my screen full of_DECO LAP DANCE CHAir V8-THIS IS A DONATION BOX PLEASE leave lidens etc..in big green letters
I have muted it..tried to find that damn chair but is not something i have at home or on my body..what can i do to get rid of that pest?OO

Try installing the Emerald Viewer http://tr.im/GreenLife . The next time the object spams you, click on its name in chat history. This will open a little window telling you where the object is and to whom it belongs, and will offer you various options like tp-ing to the object, muting it, opening the owner's profile (so you can send an IM) and so on.

Turn on "send IM to email". The email will give you the location of the object and the owner so you can mute and AR it.

Of course! You don't need a special viewer. Silly me. Presumably "Send IMs to email" is a good defense against those horrid objects some griefers use to spam their victims with endless messages.

Yes. It's a very good, fast way of finding out the owner's name and the object's location without having to install software that you may never use again

I did this just the other day, as soon as spamming started, from a kiosk at a place I'd never heard of. Logged in, went straight to it and said shut the hell up and muted it. The owner (the IM to email also tells you who the owner is) happened to be there and I asked him to remove me from his subscribe o matic thing, which he did immediately and all was quiet. You've been listening to that chair for far too long, time for some peace and quiet for you. Good luck!

Mmm...I find it hard to imagine many people wouldn't want to use Emerald again after seeing some of the stuff it does, but point taken.

There seems to be a little spate of message spam right now - I guess griefing methods come round again and again. I wonder if we will ever see grey goo again!

good news..maybe..the IM trick didn't work, this spam is not an Im apparently..but...
going to local chat and clicking on the name of the chair ohh sruprise( must be a new viewer thing) the oWNER comes and the location! wowow..now i have muted the two people that are sendong them hope there are no more..

the things is really complicated..i tp where the chair is..muted it and bam after 30 mins it spammed me again OO--not only , but spam comes from multiples owners..trying to tp everywhere and sending messages to all those people..omg nightmare!
it doesn't really help the fact that the MUTE buttons seems not work properly..i checked a just muted person and it was un-muted OO

The way muting works these days, if you talk to those people, they automatically get unmuted (and so do their objects, if you muted by owner) :/

If the chair has a unique name, you can mute by name to avoid that.

i have done both thanks, not working..and i don't talk to those people but they are not muted even if i click the mute button..sent a ticket to LL

/me has never been a fan of muting objects.. It just hides the problem and bandwidth & computrons still get eaten up.
