you click 'select texture' and it will then apply the texture only to that face. Be aware though if you have path cut a cube, all the walls on the inside of the cube are one face.

*points politely to texturing forum*

You can also simply drag the texture out of your inventory onto the face of the prim you want to apply it to.

Be careful doing this though, I was working on an object on my land the other day and accidently dragged the texture onto one of my Botanical maple trees instead of my prim.

there are a couple of ways.

first, just drag the texture from your inventory onto the face of the prim that needs the texture. (dangerous if there is anything "invisible" between you and your prim)

or

In the edit dialog there is a "select texture" selection. With this active you can left click to choose individual prim faces to texture. (much safer as you know where the tex is going before it does)

If you hold shift and left click another face you can select(or deselect) more than one face at a time.

good luck!
