No updates from the LDPW lately. Does anyone know what is happening? I finally closed my ticket, feeling quiet rejected=/

From: 3Ring Binder LDPW? don't even know what that is. Linden Department of Public Works... residents building roads and such. They posted a blog looking for volunteers through support tickets, and five weeks later no one got any replies. I closed mine too.

I know that some people have been hired. I put in my ticket many weeks ago, and still have yet to hear a peep from LL about it. I don't know if they've already hit their hiring quota, or if they're simply taking their time in sorting through all the applications.

I don't know if they've already hit their hiring quota, or if they're simply taking their time in sorting through all the applications. Either way, a simple response would have been the polite thing to do. "I'm sorry, but all positions have been filled" or "Thank you for your submission. We are still narrowing down our list of candidates." Typing both took less than 30 seconds.

In most companies the expectation of new management coming in (with a potentially different agenda) tends to put initiatives in the freezer, if they haven't already gained enough traction (which the LDPW clearly hasn't).

/me wonders how many rl companies call you and tell you that you are not hired when they have received either 100's or 1000's of applications. Not many I would think. However I do agree it would be nice. It is awful sitting around just waiting to hear from someone.

when i was in HR, it was company policy that we round-file most of the applications, with no return communication, and especially directly after a mass hire. anything older than 3-4 weeks was tossed in the can without even being allowed to review it first.

Thank You for Your relpys. At least i now know I am not alone.
I searched for changes on the wiki and only turned up some unrelated office hour chatlogs. No obvious updates, but i may have missed something.
Indeed a simple "positions filled" response would be appropriate.
Life goes on and my sour grapes scoff at 10 dollars and hour =P
Alisha
p.s. That same company that mass hires and receives 1000s of applications also gives and all clear the "position is filled".

So considering we're coming up on 6 weeks, we can assume we're all sitting in the rubbish bin. ...but a simple blog entry would have covered it.

When I worked for the US Government (at one of the NIH facilities) we'd send letters off to those who weren't chosen for the position. Part of my job was sending those letters. Of course, I don't know if it was government policy or just my boss being a good person, as he was a true Gentleman.

the company i worked for (mentioned above) had a miserably unhappy owner, who spent a better part of his life trying to reel in more misery and spread it around like hay in a horse stall. i didn't stay there and put up with that B.S very long.
