I have this sculpted jacket that is copyable and modifiable (just says no transfer), and when I check its properties, it also says modifiable and copyable; however when I go to edit, it will say "you cannot modify this item". O_o I cannot edit ANY of its perimeters, like textures, colors, or even size. Is this a bug or something?? There are no scripts inside. I need to make the jacket a bit smaller and it's getting very frustrating, and the permissions seem very misleading. -.-

Sounds like a bug one of my skirts got hit with. It was mod/copy in the inventory but when rezzed or worn, it was trans only. There was nothing that should have caused the problem either.
What I had to do was reset the perms on it to get it to rezz with the proper perms.

You can only do it if you are the creator. I just unchecked and checked the item while it was in the inventory and rezzed it. Right as rain after that.
If you aren't the creator, I recommend contacting the creator. They (like myself) will want to know about it, so they can correct it on all affected products.

Yes Suki, you will need to contact the creator. The creator will probably never heard of this bug, and think you are weird or can't edit stuff. This has happened to me twice.  The first time the creator was very suspicious. She sent me a new prim part and probably wrote me off as a psycho when I said I could not edit it. It was copy/mod. And showed as copy/mod in my inventory, but I just couldn't edit it. I stayed calm and asked her nice if she didn't have a business alt or a trusted friend she could sent the stuff to and let them test it. 2 days later I got a prim part with the right permissions set and she apologized. I can't explain why this permissions change happens, but it sometimes does. The next time it was a wellknown gown designer, where a stole could not be modified. Luckily she was in my timezone and so was her shop manager. And the prim part was mod/trans. I could send it to the manager who tried to edit it with no luck, she told the designer and we solved it the same day. |
