I cannot get the viewer/main Second Life program to work. I attempt to run it, and it just comes up with a blank screen. I end up having to use the task manager to exit it, as it becomes non-responsive. In other words, it freezes before it ever even loads the welcome screen. It'll then sometimes bring up the error-reporter on the next try, but it fails to connect to the server. And then it tries to load again, and of course yet again it freezes.

I've tried the most recent version, as well as several older ones. I've also tried a couple third-party viewers, which yielded the same exact problem.

It's been a while, but I used to use SL without this problem. Any idea what the problem is?

Have you got a firewall that could be blocking it?

It sounds like it may be an internet connection problem to me - tried re-booting your router?

My connection is fine... otherwise how would I be posting here? =P No other internet-based programs are having trouble on my computer right now. Nor are anyone else on the network here having any internet issues. It's just SL. And I'm not even convinced it's even getting to the point where it could try to connect. It seems to freeze right off the bat.

I had the exact same problem recently. Figured out I had to update my OpenGL drivers. Have you checked that?
