The tools tab is hidden by default (in the latest viewer). When you go into edit mode it reappears.

You have to be in edit for the tools to show up. Yes, it's horrid. I hear it is being switched back.

Ctrl 3

Opens the tool window in select mode instead of create mode like the button does. I find it helpful for getting to the tools menu.

Someone must explain to me why they felt it necessary to take it away.

Who Are The Tools?

Someone hid my tools in the lighthouse and I about had a kaniption fit! If the Lindens are hiding residents' tools it would make it very difficult to take things apart, get into enclosed areas or try to hot-wire security systems. That would bring exploration and covert recon darn near impossible. Not to mention trying to follow Magellan's trail. They better put it back!

The official explanation, included in the announcement of 1.20.15, is that it was done to help "streamline the user interface".

Obviously, someone at LL does not know the difference between "streamline" and "fewer visible controls".

I firmly believe that whomever at LL is doing the work on the UI, failed User Interface 101 at some podunk school.
