Hi, once again I'm here to pick your willing brains, a male friend of mine would like a shirt that flows behind him as he walks, much as some skirts do, I think the term is prim skirts? He would prefer an unbuttoned one if possible, do any of you lovely people know where we can find one of these, if they exist? I have done a search inworld but haven't come up with anything yet.

Hmm.. have been wanting to play around with men's clothes- not much in the way of success as yet, so can't volunteer. However, I am picturing a goth style for some reason..the idea of flow I suppose, makes me think masculine looking ruffle edging - try searching for goth stuff

Thanks Amaranthim, I have had a look in a few goth places but its not quite what he is looking for. Really he just wants an ordinary looking shirt, but rather than it being painted on the body, it moves like it would in RL. Thank you for your quick response though

OK- so then... regular guy shirt- maybe open like the buttons undone- the reason it wd flow wd be if one wears a shirt open and walks it moves lightly- OK- different vision- that does require a prim "skirt" attachment to have actual flow and done with flexies - as for drawn to look that way, it is a matter of shadings..
I have not seen this- I am sure there are men here who would have a better sense of where are the best places for mens clothes- I woudl suggest also a little on line excursion thru on rez and slexchange. There is a men's fashion blog too- but I don't know the name-

Junglewear has some open front shirts. They're jacket layer but they don't have any prim parts that flow behind you. Maybe check DE Designs too.

I would "LOVE" to have a decent looking tux jacket, that didn't look "painted on". Something that had a RL drape and feel. The men's suit jackets in SL all look totally ridiculously. Come on SL designers, there's a market for this.

I would have a look at a place called Muism.....i am pretty sure i have a few outfits from there (non goth) that have prim attachments for the back. Also a great selection of shirts with a bottom (tucked in) layer.

I haven't yet seen a shirt with this effect, but I do own a black denim jacket by Mechanism that has what your friend is looking for. Quick pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/skelldagger/2713685049/There are advantages *and* disadvantages to this kind of clothing. The main advantage is that it looks great. The disadvantages are: - Often the prim item is a single prim and doesn't flow naturally when you walk (instead it kind of flaps behind you) - You still have to wear a shirt or jacket layer item, and that can appear to be 'sticking out' on your flesh beneath the prim section - You need to wear a similar-coloured item of clothing beneath it (as I have done in the above pictures) because certain stand and other poses will make the avatar's flesh (and whatever it's clothed in [if anything] beneath the shirt/jacket layer) stick through the prim item. The latter two disadvantages are illustrated in this picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/skelldagger/2713707427/

Some additional disadvantages to using prims for skirting:
1) The prim usually has to be modified to fit your particular avatar, which then makes it very difficult to align coat details, especially patterns, seams and the front opening.
2) The same texture applied to clothing layers looks different when applied to a prim. So depending on the time of day and the quality of light, the prim skirt can suddenly look very obvious and tacked on.
I hate prim attachments for clothing for all those reasons, but it's really the only way to get away from the painted on quality of the jacket mesh.

Thanks World, I had a look at Musim and this seems to be more what he is looking for. I will give him the LM and see if he can find something to make him happy lol. And a big thank you to everyone else for all your suggestions, they are all appreciated

I've never seen a shirt like what you're describing. The closest thing I've seen is a suit jacket from SF Designs that comes with both the typical "skirt" bottom and an optional flexi-prim bottom. I have one and it's not bad, although it would look more realistic if it were a little less flexi when I moved. From: Beebo Brink It's not the designers at fault, it's the avatar mesh. Plus the tendency of a lot of male avs to have ridiculously broad shoulders and tiny waists. The clothes are going to look painted on, that's a given. So make what they are painted on as realistic as possible.
