Hope this is the right place to ask - my question isn't about SL as such, but the SL blog.

There's a list of current events on the SL blog - (blog.secondlife.com), but I'd like to know what events are coming up in the next few days, rather than those running right now (it's usually a bit late to know that a class is half way through!).

So I click on the "Current Educational Events" link - and it takes me to a site called eventful.com

This looks good, except this site will tell me all real world events going on within 25km of my home town. If I want, I can extend this to 100km of my home town.

But SL isn't anywhere near my home town - it's in cyberspace!!

So how do I use this website to search for SL events?

Hi Damien and welcome to the forum :)

Try this link on the main website:

http://secondlife.com/events/

You can specify the type of event you're looking for as well as which days.

Have fun :)

Thanks, Sally - I did try that, but it's just full of adverts rather than proper events. The ones on the blog seem much more focused which was I wanted to be able to use the link they specified; but I just don't know how to say I live in "Second Life" rather than my actual home town lol :)

There is a drop down menu that you can filter what you want.

For example, you mentioned classes - select "education" from the drop down box and it will show you all the classes on that day. I would suggest checking it a few hours before you want to go since classes are always being added.

You can also use the search function and go to the events tab and put a keyword in.

Hope this helps!

Just tried a search for education events. (Select category in the drop down menu at the top right-hand side). This is what I got.

The "all" front page admittedly is a bit of a mess, but target the search and you might get lucky :)

Thanks very much, Ericka and Sally -

Yes, that does look more manageable :)

I was confused because the link to the other site in the official blog is very prominent and on the front page. Can I assume it's probably a bit of a gimmick really, and that the secondlife.com/events link is the best way to go?

I have no idea....... to be honest I'd never even clicked on that link before now :o.

The event search on the website plus inworld search are enough for my music hopping planning :)
