so does this mean we will have to learn to say xstreet instead of slex? I so liked typing slex, it was so much easier to type I suppose we could shorten it to xstr LOL looks like shorthand for extra... sorta... here is a link to the announcement http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=66541

My use of slboutique dropped dramatically when it changed its name to onrez. I wonder how that change affected business for them and how much it will affect business for slexchange.

I think one of the reasons they are dropping the name is because of LL's trademarks or whatever it is on the SL and secondlife etc
only time will tell how it goes

Meh rubbish. You can't typo xstreet as sexchange.
Which is, after all, appropriate for SL.

When SLB started spending more time down than functional. They still haven't quite proven that Onrez won't follow the same fate. *shrugs* Well, given that there hasn't been a change in the level of service SLEx provides, I guess it won't affect it too much.

I actually prefer OnRez functionality to SLX...er, Xstreet. Whatever.

Yeah, I would always catch myself typing out something like sexchange or sex or lsex or something weird. Plus slexchange sounds too much like the name of a bank. So I think it's a good idea and I don't think it will affect how people will use it much. I hope I don't have to buy a new magic box for it though.

heh…I met some of the staff of SLX at the SLCC08 conference and I just took another look at their business cards. Sure enough on the back it says “On 10.01.08 SL Exchange becomes Xstreet” crap…I missed out on pre-empting their announcement that’s why I could never be a journalist

From: Jimbo Mimulus Damn they're gonna be busy Changing all the terminals over to the new name Won't they just obselete the existing ones and make the land owners place the updated version? I dunno. For me, since SLX became the ONLY organization in the entirety of either FL OR SL that won't accpet my Paypal card, they've become completely irrelevant.

From: Drivin Sideways Won't they just obselete the existing ones and make the land owners place the updated version? Land owners don't own SLX atms. SLB stayed "SLB" in my mind, for months after their gimmicky change. At the time, I felt is was cheap commercialism, attempting to make their business more "Buzzwordy". In the end, I think they saw the move damage their standing in the market. This change was forced on SLExchange by LL. Do I wish they're picked a less gimmicky name? yes of course. XStreet is really easy to typo as xtreat.. xtreet, extreat, exstreat, xstreat, etc etc.. the "X-S-T-R" keys are pretty unnatural to type. (the whole name of the domain - minus the L - is typed with the left hand). Frankly I wish they had gone with "Virtuatrade-SL". Do I blame them for changing it? no, not really. Will it affect my use of their services? No. They still provide excellent customer support, and a fast turnaround on cashing-out using their currency market. Once I've bookmaked the new domain, it won't matter to me what their name is. And rumours still persist that more new stuff will be coming from them as well. There's an old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Unfortunately, NOT changing SLX's name wasn't an option... but I'm not going to leave SLX (or whatever they call themselves).. because their services still work for me.

I was worried that SLX would have to change their name in response to LL's draconian branding policy.
LL should have been more flexible. SLX facilitates a HUGE amount of SL commerce, and that benefits LL.
