Can anyone tell me if there are rules about building.
I shall tel a short story about what is going on.
I have for more than one year a shop in the sim Fafnir, my neighbour owns almost the whole sim, now he blocked all the way to my shop, build a huge megaprim 100 meters high around me and banned me from his land.
I cannot reach my own shop and have to go bij TP or come in by the sim next to me.
He build his megatower on the borderlines.
Do you have to keep a certain distance from the borderlines?
And must give my neigbour me entrance to my land by the same region?

I already send a Abuse report to the Lindenlab, hope they can do something about this behavior of my neighbour.

I would suggest you move your shop somewhere else - no point in flogging a dead horse.

And sell your plot to the other person for a incredibly high price - it sounds to me like they are trying to get you out because they want the plot. If they don't want to pay it seems like an awful lot of effort to go to.

There *are* things you can do to get your own back, but these may be considered griefing so i would just turn the other cheek

Just been over and had a look... the neighbour is being a complete jerk by the looks of it. Blatantly trying to force Unique to sell up so he can own the whole sim... must come under the "visual spam" rule. It's not ad farm extortion but the intention is identical.

If you can TP in, you can reach your shop.

Sorry - but moving is the only sensible answer...

You need to get away from this dickhead ASAP - morons like this guy are best avoided. The sim owner makes his own rules so just get out before he physically ejects you.

IM me in world if you want a cheap 4096 parcel next to my friends mall - or check out Cat Fratica (Profile - Classified) in world. Sensible offers accepted for quick sale.

All the best

I just went and had a look and see the problem. I think "Lewis Parker" blocked Unique out because it didn't quite fit with his tacky medieval theme town... fine... but it's a pretty scummy thing to do to somebody IMO

I just went and looked at it, he is definitely being an ass and I can only assume he did it because he wants to own the whole sim. I mean none of the other sims around him come close to matching the medieval theme so if he was just trying to isolate himself from anything that doesn't fit why not build a wall around the whole thing or at least some of the stuff you can't help but notice.

Try to bump up the price and sell as high as you can is my suggestion. Sucks that after a year of being there you would have to do that though.

No. You (or he) can build right up against the border. It's generally helpful to try to stay a meter or two away though. If his prims are crossing the border onto your land, you can AR that.

No. You can always TP in. If your neighbor owns the four meter width between you and the linden road, he can build a wall and block your access to it.

There's a dual edge sword with mainland - you can building pretty much whatever you want and so can your neighbor.

uhm...

did we do away with the prohibition of 'boxing in' someones land? that used to be an AR-able offense.

although if you are on a sim border/corner, you're not boxed in. you're not likely to get traffic from his side of the fence, so i'd just put up flatwall scenery against his borders and ignore him. of course, i'm stubborn, and any time someone tries to extort ME... i don't go for it.

I don't necessarily recommend moving. It depends on whether your store build really suffers from the views. If it is built with a lot of open views etc. then you are probably better off moving if you can get a fair price for the land but if your store is completely enclosed then the views shouldn't matter and access should not be an issue either since customers will be teleporting to the store. It will also frustrate the hell out of the neighbor which is something he or she richly deserves.

I too have read on the forums that boxing in someone's land is something for which an abuse report can be filed so if this is true you should keep filing the abuse reports as well.

When I owned most of Fujin and Tupi I always went out of my way to try and make the fellow residents feel comfortable. I contacted them regularly, checked that my builds were not making them feel in anyway blocked or encroached, kept a good distance from their land edges where ever possible and offered to retexture any walls facing them etc as they chose.

If you own the majority of a sim, you have a responsibility. It is called common courtesy and seems to be sadly lacking in SL at times :(

I am so sorry to hear you are having this issue, Unique. Have you tried talking to him? (sorry if I am stating the obvious there)

Sadly, your only recourse may be to move. But yes, set your price high, it is very possible that he wants to drive you out so he can buy your land - if that is the case, then the least he can do is pay through the nose for being so rude about it.

Good luck *hugs*

Has he ever asked you about buying your land? I only did a quick flyover of the sim but it appears he may own the whole thing and if not, darn close to it.

If he has never been in contact with you and just one day decided to do that I would definitely do my part to make him uncomfortable as long as you aren't crossing the AR line and it won't hurt business. Ultimately though I still think I would move rather than deal with that. It would just get old quick. Then again as long as traffic keeps coming, sales are being made and you have a thick skin go ahead and stick it out ;-)

I prefer the idea of selling it at a high, high, high price. This person is more likely than not to be a jerk and even when contacted, not much will happen. It's not worth the headache at all.

Totally agree. He wants the land that bad, make him pay for it. What he's doing CAN be abuse-reported, but there's a very good chance that won't stop him from being a prick.

Geesh, I guess I'm mean. :) If it were me I'd put up a wall with nice serene textures on my side and ugly, obnoxious, gaudy textures that conflict in any way I can manage to his build...........and make them full bright too. :) Put out prim lights maxed out on intensity and fall off......on his side only. Borderline ARable? Maybe, but I think as long as it's on your side of the line, LL won't do a thing. :)

Well I'd open up paint and create a nice sign and post it on linked 10x10m prims (and turn the side towards your store alpha) and wait and see if he gets the message.

worked well when I had a couple neighbors that needed a clue. Since all coming to their store/home could see the signs and mention it to them

If that may not work... there is always the huge prim rotating above your store that randomly flashes colors and has the sign on.

(can work with you on a script for it if need be.... not a fan of rude neighbors in rl or sl )

Now that I can get in world, I see that: To the west, there's prim encroachment of 0.224m. To the north, there's prim encroachment of 0.116m. To the east, there's no prim encroachment, but particle encroachment from the chimney. Tell him to move his stuff as per:

https://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=4417

If he won't, report it.

If he moves the prims back and moves the chimney so there's no smoke coming through, there's nothing to AR

Also, he's being a total dickhead, but he's griefing himself as much as he's griefing you.

The sign you have there is good. I suggest you add onto the tower to make it as tall as you can, grab a Cubey Terra vendor to sell parachutes, and advertise indoor BASE jumping in addition to your store.

Just make sure to sell a couple of 16m plots tp some the landbots for adfarms before leaving :)
