Hey peeps....

Ive just logged into SL after a short break of only 4 days..... to find that the roof and balcony of my studio has completely disappeared!!
Things have disappeared, or been moved, a couple of time since i moved to the current parcel..... even though all my objects are NOT "allow anyone to move". I just find it really stranges that its these prims only..... the rest of the building still stands.
Im not aware of any updates in the last 4 days.... but then again, i havebeen away...lol
What do you think my next step should be? contact sim owner? contact LL? or just move? lol
Any help advice would be gratefully recieved as im getting highly frustrated with this Sim and SL atm :)

Moocho Thanks

Sim owner first, yes, then Lindens.

There are problems with the server restarts and asset servers, memory leaks in the client, and issues where your attachments may drift, but none of those should cause you to lose a roof and balcony.

Sim Owner, Lindens. ; )

Can't be sure without visiting inworld but my guess is that the balcony and roof are linked and hang over the edge of your parcel, the estate manager can and often will return the overhanging part to keep the peace.

Resolving situations like that is afterall the job of the estate owner/manager.

I doubt it was a rollback of the sim because then your whole house would be missing.

So yes contact the sim owner, if he had to return the balcony and roof because of overhanging he will tell you.

Did you look for your missing roof and balcony in your inventory Lost and Found Folder?

hiya

yep ive checked lost n found folder..... and the original product folder.... and well.....all of my inventory infact..... lol.... but nothing.
the studio has been in place for over a month now so doubt whether it was returned due to overstepping parcel lines...... its well and truly within the boundaries :)
ive IMed the sim owner..... but no reply....sigh.
i think maybe i should leave as im paying to much to have things disappear for no reason.

thanks for your help peeps :)

The same thing happened to us last weekend in Tweaksville, the front wall of our cabin was gone, it was linked to the rest of the building too, not in inventory or up in the sky. We had to rez another cabin.

Hmm...I know that on the parcel I live, I've had my house flash when the neighbors accidentally clicked it while editing something of their own. (was funny cause they use voice and I heard him say "OMG oops I'm sorrrrrrry!"

I also know that I have been able to rez something on another parcel in the same sim, so it's possible that a neighbor might have deleted your roof by accident.

And then again you might be overhanging on someone elses parcel. I have a neighbor who keeps putting her two prims back on my parcel, and I keep returning them to her only to have them back the next day. Hehe...I might be returning her roof and/or walls!

There have been times in the past when I logged in to find portions of my house "missing", not in my inventory, not deleted...then cleared cache and relogged and they were back. Sometimes the client or my cache just made it so I couldn't see things that were there before. Haven't had this bug in a while, but maybe it's worth a try?

Don't assume its not there, just because you can't see it. I have a work platform up in the sky and part of it, 9 prims 30m x 30m often fails to rezz, it remains invisible, I can't click on it, but I can walk out onto it so I know its there. This happens about 50% of the time.

I don't know why its just that group of prims, its part of a group of 6 linked sets of identical prims.

i hope the studio was copyable so you can replace it.

but i've had things like this happen. prims gone from in world. not in lost and found, and i owned them. an entire house got eaten up, but all my other stuff was there. carpet, furniture, pictures hanging on nonexistent walls. can't explain it.

i hope you get it back!

One possibility not mentioned above is that they became ghost prims. These would have been listed as "Selected/sat upon" in About Land and may have still had a physical presence, but invisible (such as if you couldn't see them but could bump into or walk on them). Sometimes, however, ghost prims move to the sim's 0, 0, 0 location. Once the sim is restarted, they're lost.

There has been a increase in the number of people having this problem recently, but it seemed to have peaked about 10 days ago when SL had a particularly bad weekend.

Try walkiing on your roof.
For the sake of experimentation note the house coordinates (I put coords in the description field).
Note the number of prims on your land.
If your roof is gone make sure it isn't coalesced into something with an unhelpful name.
Check 0,0,0
Be curious and enjoy the mystery - we love to read about magic and mysteries and we have a chance to experience them in SL.
Often, but not always, things come back or a simple explanation is forthcoming.
