wow an unanswered question
I am sure you found it by now, but for future reference, the best bet is to contact concierge customer support to find out where the party is, as those of us who do not qualify will not know

Heh I thought about showing up, but the last one I attended left me stranded in a stream, unable to move, what with all the lag. If LL's going to host a party, it should send out huge reminders to remove flexi everything, sculpty everything, script most everything (my AO is my one vanity!) etc etc. I've been to parties where everyone played along, removed their stuff, and we all had a great time with only minimal lag.
Who in the hell is in charge of customer support/parties???

I attened the Valentine Party last year. The had 4 sims up just for the party. It got so laggy no one could walk or rez fully and talking was a mess. So, they threw up a new sim really fast we had no clue where it was. When I tried to go there I wound up at the bottom of the ocean. I asked LL for a new formal and hairdo for throwing me in the ocean, but they never gave me one. So I tp'd home and attended the party in IM from home with the new friends that I had made there.

I popped in a couple of times just to see if I could find anybody I recognized (didn't), and to look at the 5 sims they'd set up for it. The central ("Coliseum" sim was kinda laggy, but not as bad as many large gatherings I've attended. It was possibly a mistake making the sim with multiple neighbors also be the one with the most reason to stick around. I'm a little embarrassed that it took me three tries at flying a steam-powered copter up against that sim border to finally realize that they had physics turned off for just that sim.

Ya, I also wish you could have gone to the four surrounding sims *without* going through the main one. I got "stuck" one time due to that passage an could not log back in for sometime due to a stuck avvie. I think the lag was better because, well, togas an tunics dun have a *lot* of extra bits to them. I could be wrong on dat, but I found -- aside form the main sim -- movement for me was purty good. Was very frustrating, oh well, thanks for the replies I'm afraid it was a very laggy experience - but some nice builds with super Roman Galleys. I managed to look round a bit, but I did crash 4 times and after that thought I'd call it a day.

Wasn't too laggy when I went. The build was VERY impressive. They had a statue garden with some amazing (and very high prim) colossi. I'll bet Talin Sands had a hand in it.
When I was there, they were playing Hunt the Linden. They finally cornered Leo and it was like Aslan's death scene, I tell ya. Twenty or so avs all crowded around the lion, shooting him with all sorts of weapons, from cream pies to bazookas. Someone was even dropping anvils from the sky, but their aim was bad and they kept hitting another poor avatar.
The funniest part about all this, to me, was that several people went looking for "Mount Olympus" (one of the party sims, and the most impressive, if unlovely, mountain I've ever seen in SL). Instead, they wound up at Lebettu, having obviously confused our Mount Olympus Club with the destination they were trying for. I was redirecting people from Friday night through Saturday.

I wanted the Leo Linden mounted head trophy for my workshop! I did have fun playing primtionary hosted by Guy Linden, though. I wish there were more things like it, an not jes for concierge folks. I was glad I got invited in, though. Mari

Mari I took a pic, Mari. Not as good as yours, but you're welcome to a copy.

I really liked Primtionary - I was way too slow at guessing though. Maybe we could do something like that at the hangout, some time.
Open season on Leo was fun at first.... but I started to feel a bit sad when he just stood there while 20 people were blazing away.

I got around the no physics thing (in more ways than one). The sims were No Fly. So I just used edit to move my balloon into the central sim and anywhere I wanted to go. No fear of bouncers stopping moi! I had a fleet. ...and made an entrance through the roof 80+ primmy avatars makes for big lag. It was like dancing in jello. Hey! I WAS dancing in jello!!
