Recently I am receiving tons of teleport requests from spammers, so I decided to allow only my friends to send me teleport requests. How can I do this?

I think that is somewhere in Edit/preferences.

there might be another way -

but under edit/preferences/communication

checkmark 'only friends can see me online'

then only friends list people can teleport you

Not true, just enable "View Admin Options" in the Advanced menu. You can now offer teleports to anyone, friends or not.

The inability to teleport people not showing as online is actually a long standing (read years) bug. Brought on by the addition of the ability to show yourself as offline to non-friends that was added a few years back. Turning on "View Admin Options" is the workaround for the bug.

He asked how to avoid being teleported or sent teleport requests - not how to offer them or not. Unless that is what you meant but just worded it badly.

Also, disabling being seen online by anyone not on friends list does not mean you cannot offer teleports. Only that people who are not on your friends list cannot offer them to YOU and it's my experience that this is true (bug or not).

You should be able to see I was replying to your post before mine, your post was in fact about that.

My point is simply that only allowing friends to see the OP online will NOT stop him from receiving teleports from spammers who know to turn on "View Admin Options".

To clarify: You posted a workaround for the OP's problem not knowing that it did not work. I stepped in to clarify the flaw in the workaround you provided. Not as an attack against you, but to save the OP the trouble of thinking there problem had been solved. I also posted a quick summery of the bug that prevents your supplied workaround from functioning correctly.

Does that help you understand how my post is in fact on topic?

The only way to keep anybody from offering you a teleport is to mute them before they have a chance to, I'm afraid.

So your best bet is to read who it came from and where you're supposed to go, then decide if you want to go there before you click on the Accept button.

A piece of advice I recommend to everybody with every group notice, big yellow warning box that something you rezzed wants to take money from you, teleport request, item offer, etc. Take the time to read the things, there is never a reason not to do so.

Yes since I quoted your post I know I was replying to it.

Except that you omitted this sentence/explanation from your post.

With the part of my post you quoted and the reply to it, it sounded as if you were addressing what I said about others not being able to teleport him. I could not read your mind to supply the missing sentence above.

I never saw it as an attack on me. I'm not sure where you got that. Crossed wires on both sides perhaps.
