Welcome to the Forums and (hopefully) to Second Life. The good news: This machine looks good for running Second Life. The bad news: I see no obvious reason why it has a problem. It may help to know some more details of what happens when it fails. For example, does the Second Life *program* "automatically shut down" or does the whole *computer* shut down? If just the program is exiting, then perhaps you could look in the "C:\Documents and Settings\<your Windows username>\Application Data\SecondLife\logs\" directory. Is there a SecondLife.log file there? (If so, do *not* post the whole contents here. It contains some personal identification information you may want to keep private. But if you look inside, maybe an obvious problem is shown there.)

I have less powerful computer then yours but I had this problem when I updated. I cleared cache I think that worked one time but last week I tried for hours and I kept going to back to desk top for two days. Eventually it stopped and I was able to login. No clue why. I had updated my graphics card drivers a week prior.

From: FD Spark . . .I had updated my graphics card drivers a week prior. Maybe that's the issue, FD. I had suddenly found my Second Life crashing (and I have an nVidia card). It happened whenever another avatar would come too close to me. I was told to update my video drivers and this worked, but then I got the clothing not appearing correctly. Rolling back the drivers to version 175.?? seemed to cure the problems. Maybe feng could try logging in at a different location using an SURL. Maybe there are too many avatars close by at the present log in location. Of course you have to start at Orientation Island, so this may not work either . . .

The problem happen with last update it has corrected itself now. I am using 3 or 4 year old Pentinum 4 computer with 2533mhz, 6200 series nividea video card, only 768 ram. What also helped was when I removed the television in my office and turn off media because right after newest update I kept crashing soon as I got in but when I turned off the tv, media prefences all was fine.
