hello,
i recently bought some mushrooms and trees for my property. i noticed that i can edit the mushroom cap and stem in the size box under "build", but i have to do them separately. does anyone know a way to group objects to do an overall scale? (scale down)
-- i'm aware that some items you buy are NOT editable etc. but my question is for the items that ARE editable.
thank you kindly! nibiru

In edit mode, hold down Ctrl+Shift and drag the white boxes.

A linkset can be proportionally scaled, for example the whole mushroom can be selected, you grab a white corner and you can scale it larger or smaller. But you can't grab just one axis and streach that, for example, to male a tall, skinny mushroom.
If you are trying to proportionally scale a linkset and it seems to "hit a hard stop", odds are good that some part has hit its minimum or maximum dimension. No part can have a dimension thinner than 0.010 M or larger than 10.000 M.

thank you kindly! nibiru If you link the items together (select both, then use Link from the Tools menu), you will be able to resize the object as a single unit, assuming one or both of the objects don't reach the minimum/maximum size while scaling.

It sounds like the cap and stem are seperate objects, not sure why they would be ...
In any case, go into build and highlight both pieces at the same time. Usually by clicking ang dragging a box to select both. You can also hold down shift and left-click each object. Then link them together. From the Tools menu at the top, it's Tools > Link.
Once linked, they should scale up and down together. If you want to change it in just one direction (taller but not wider, for example) you have to do that one piece at a time.

If they are linked into one object, right click on the object and choose "edit". Then select the "stretch" radio button and you'll see whitish boxes appear around the object. Click on any one of those whitish boxes and hold down the left mouse button while dragging it in to make the object smaller or out to make it larger.
If the parts are actually separate objects select each one while holding down the "shift" key until they are all selected at once. Then from the drop down "tools" menu at the top of your screen choose "link". And then do the thing I described above.
If one of the parts has a dimension that is already the maximum 10m allowed in SL you'll have to change that to be smaller before you can stretch the whole thing bigger. Or if some dimension is already the minimum allowed .01m you'll have to make it larger before you can shrink the whole thing.
I hope I said something in all that to answer your question.
edit: oops everyone beat me to it.

SL building isn't quite like 3d modeling in other places.
