So I've got this really *weird* bunch of errors going on right now. It started earlier today when my av started getting weird errors (bits of body parts being left behind or stuck in inappropriate places, the usual graphics glitches), but other folk could see them as well as me, and relogging didn't fix them.
Then it got weird. My av suddenly flicked to a spot in a nearby sim, frozen in space and unable to move, and relogging wouldn't fix that either. I couldn't tp away; if I logged out and then tried to log back in somewhere else I'd initially arrive in the correct spot then flick to the frozen spot (always the same spot) a few moments after arriving inworld. On one occasion I appeared to be in two places at the same time, ghosted, and a friend inworld said she could see my av in both places. So I foolishly moved the cam over to see the ghosted "me" in the next sim... and BAM! all of a sudden I was in the ghosted "me", frozen in space again, and the previous instance of my av that I'd been inhabiting a moment before vanished.
I just cannot get this pernicious problem to go away. I've tried to clear cache twice - didn't work. I uninstalled and reinstalled my SL client, right down to manually removing all the files in the Application Data\SecondLife directory BY HAND using DOS since windows explorer crashed whenever I tried. And I just tried to log in again just now after a full re-install, and a moment later... BOOM! I've hovering in the air in the same spot in the next sim over, adorned with parts of the av that I had been wearing when the crash occurred originally, and unable to move. (Well, I was until the client crashed completely while I was writing this post.) I tried contacting Live Help (yes, I'm a premium member) but couldn't get anything there either - just blank webpages with the SL header bar.
In case it helps understand what's going on, I'll add in that the location it says I'm at when I'm frozen in space is clearly FUBAR... my home sim is Firespire, the next sim over that I keep being stuck in is Bertaggia (or something like that), and when I'm stuck there my grid reference at the top of the screen shows as "Firespire -68 (!!!!), 228, 35."
HELP! If I can't get through to Live Help, what can I do? Has anybody encountered anything like this? What can I try that might help?

Might be worth asking the sim owner to restart their sim and see if that sets you free.

'Tis a mainland sim.
I have submitted a support ticket though, so hopefully something will come of that soon.
On the bright side, my alt seems unaffected by it so far. On the downside, all my L$, inventory and projects-in-progress are with my main av. *sigh*

I'm wondering if there is something odd going on in this bunch of sims. My av has been ghosted for 2 days so far in Marimon...just around the coastline a little way from you. I'm still waiting for the Lindens to get back to me with a solution. For now, I'm making a nice halloween decoration hanging over the ocean ( Good luck!

Yeah, perhaps you're right. In a fit of devil-may-care experimentation, I logged on again with my main av, but this time set it to log in at a sim a long long way away from my home sim. That seems to have worked for the moment, and I'm wandering around the place window-shopping without too much grief right now... but I don't quite seem to have the nerve to go home again and have it all start happening all over again. :-7
I do hope this issue gets fixed (or fixes itself) soon. My store is in my home sim, and I can't get to it! Arrrghh!

ummm...did you say you were logged in right now? And moving about ok? I have a place in firespire and I just logged in with my alt and your av is hovering over the ocean?! (very cool av btw)

That would be the ghosting I mentioned, I think. The flying cat is the av I was wearing when all the "excitement" started, and it's the one that keeps winding up being added (in parts) to whatever I'm wearing when I get flung back into the Spot Of Doom up in the air over the water. I've spend a coupla hours wandering around all over the place (anywhere but Firespire!) in human form, and now naturally the moment I zip back home I'm stuck in mid-air, frozen and semi-catted again! *sigh*

Still sounds like the sim needs a restart. Hopefully your support ticket will address that soon and I am thinking you'll be fine.

For once, a rolling restart that will help people right away!

From: Dnate Mars For once, a rolling restart that will help people right away! Yeah, that was my thought too. Last time I got the 'ghosting,' it was BOTH the sim and my modem needing restarted. Did both and Second Life was back to it's usual lag induced happiness.

Well, the Lindens appear to have fixed the ghosting problem overnight, which is most gratifying. I seem to be having some odd texture glitches instead, but I can live with that as long as it goes away soonish - it's definitely better than not being able to go home!
