Ok, this is probably very simple to many of you, but has me a bit mystified. (Kind of how I used to be with AOs ) I would like to have a variety of solo dances available to use - not click on a wall or someone else's chim. (One of my pet peeves are people solo dancing fast to a slow, romantic song or vice versa.) I'm assuming I can purchase a HUD of some type then purchase dances separately for it. I would love some suggestions of the best and/or easiest HUD manufacturers - especially those that are easy to switch from one dance to another. Thanks in advance.

Honestly, I own a Huddles, but never use it for anything besides an AO.
I just open the dances individually and start and stop them myself.

I have a Kwerks, works great, was pretty inexpensive, and can be used as a personal dance HUD, a chim for others to click on, or can be rezzed in world as a single dance orb.

I do what Briana does. I put all the dances in one folder and double click them to play them in world. When you want to change dances, it works better to open a new one while the old is still playing. Give a few seconds for the new one to take effect, then close the old one. That way there are no embarrassing noob poses between dances, because I often have to turn off my AO to make them work correctly with the priorities. Hope that made sense.

I have them in my chimera, I only have to click on my OWN head. There are also some chat commands if you want to play a specific dance and so on. The chimera was free, will drop a copy in world to you.

For the longest time, I used one called Ilse's Solo Dance Gadget, found it for free on XStreetSL. I attached it to an open HUD location, it goes invisible, and you use like /1dance to open the dance menu.
It allows you to shift between dances you purchased either in Senquence (of how the system orders them), or Random. It also has a Free Mode that allows you to pick and choose what dances to use on the fly. It's all menu-based and originally attaches somewhere on the body and takes up an attachment spot. (I'd recommend the HUD space). You can also set up how long the dances play for (for random and sequence modes).
The only reason I don't use it now is because I wanted a gadget that allowed me to share my dances with friends, and allow them to choose their own dance from my list. That's when I found, and bought, Bestat Gadget (also an Ilse). It's absolutely perfect for what I wanted! ... Actually ... I think I posted something about it in the forums while I was hunting for an upgrade.

Just adding that I too wear a chimera, easy to setup and use. I like having the AO and dances separate, I often don't want to dance and so the chim can be detached. Love being able to offer others to the opportunity to share the dances with me too.

Many thanks again for the great responses I, too, enjoyed our chat Phoenixa and look forward to getting my dances all set up. I was greatly impressed with your knowledge of body movements in creating realistic dances and our common backgrounds. Viva la dance! Or should I say, since I'm now re-studying Spanish, Bailamos!!!

I have one I made myself. It is very simple (which is why I made it) with no frills. Touch the HUD once to start dancing. It will pick a random dance to play. Every 90 seconds or so it picks a new dance at random. Touch it again to stop.
No config or anything. Just put the dance animations in the prim. Wear the HUD when ready to dance. I know with a HUDDLEZ or what ever I can pick dances and dance sets to match the music or to do special dances at special times (wink, wink) but all I wanted was a way to dance at clubs or parties and have the dances I liked playing.
If anyone wants a copy, just send me an IM in world and I will pass you a copy.

In addition to the main Huddles HUD (which is good!) Huddles also sells a cheapo Dance HUD for (I think) L$100. It is no frills and only holds 20 dances, but it works.

Buy an emtpry HUD, Huddle, or Chim...
and fill it on your own.
Go to:
Henmations Sinewave
to find dances. Henmations are motion capture, so if you're height slider is 50 or below (normal human range) they will look stunningly amazing.

I actually bought it at the shop, and at that time it was 500L$. Maybe try contacting the store owner about that? I've never spoken with the shop owner before, but it couldn't hurt to try.

From: Klunitz Aeon Well damn! I actually bought it at the shop, and at that time it was 500L$. Maybe try contacting the store owner about that? I've never spoken with the shop owner before, but it couldn't hurt to try. yea, there was maybe a 3 minute difference between my purchase on Xstreet, and heading to the shop in world. I bought a few other things in the shop until I found that that dance gadget for $150L. Whatever I'd purchased just before finding that, became my LAST purchase from there. I edited the vendor thinking *surely* this was more of a basic model than the one I'd paid over three times as much for just minutes before from Xstreet. Nope. Same object name. I know that sometimes there is a slight price difference between in world and xstreet, but come on, $350L? So yes, I did send the creator an IM, (offline). I got a one line reply hours later when I was offline, that she'd not updated xstreet, but no offer of a refund of the difference. I've looked through my transactions, and see no refund of the difference either.

I Did It!!!
06-27-2009 17:07
Well, I haven't put my personal chim together yet, but thanks to some dances several of you in this thread and another friend sent to me, I solo-danced at a live performance this afternoon and felt good about it!
I found a club I really like that has some awesome live musicians and where I'm starting to feel like a "regular," so that helps. There were several men standing around so I began the afternoon by reading their profiles. One of them had something in it about "Wanting to meet a lady to explore SL with or just dance." But did he ask me to dance (or any single lady there)? Noooooo. I swear I'm going to do research on this phenomenon....lol.
So, I looked through the dances I had and for each type of song, I found one that fit and wasn't the typical "dance posted on the wall" ones. It really felt great to get up and move!!
I just wanted to "report back in" and thank you all again for your suggestions and dances!!!
