I'm sure this has been asked before....... but rather then searching endlessly thru these threads.....

How does one eliminate constant group updates from a group one DOES NOT belong to!! :p Every time I log in....and probably 3-4 times while I'm in world...I get these updates from a group that I left eons ago. I have checked and re-checked to be sure I'm not in the group........but the updates keep coming. It's a clothing designer (actually someone I had met when he was at the beginning stages of making clothes...now he owns a very popular store)...... I allowed the initial group invite because we were friends.....buty left it after a while because I don't shop there anyway. And.....I never see him any more....he's busy and in another time zone.

Anywho.....am I on some kind of seperate update list that shoots out these group updates to anyone who's EVER been in his group or purchased from him???? It's a pain in the a$$ and as much as I don't want to offend him......I really am sick of seeing these dam blue update boxes. Is my only option here to IM him and be taken off a list???

I know of update-o-matics that allow you to receive updates without taking up a group spot. I don't know if this is the case, or how they work, but you could try going to his store and searching for one and unsubscribing?

Milla, are you sure he didn't somehow migrate the group list (while you were on it) to a service like Subscribe-0-Matic? If so, maybe you would need to go to that service to drop the group? It doesn't make sense to me that you would get notices even if you dropped the group! Good luck!

Or you could IM him and ask him to remove you from the updates.

Are you getting the blue-and-white group notice pop-downs, or are you getting notecards? If it's actual group notices, you might want to file a support ticket.

There is a subscribeomatic that allows you to be added to a group without you clicking on anything. And not only that but it also just keeps 'adding you' if you go click on the darned thing to be taken off it like it tells you to.

There is one store in particular that does it that I know of, because it happened to me twice. The first time I im'd the guy and threatened to AR him if he didn't remove me which kind of goes to how frustrated I was with trying to remove myself unsuccessfully. Then I went back to the store recently....and didn't realize till I began to rez that OH NO.....and tp'd straight back out. Too late tho...the pesky messages are getting me again.

I do see a LOT of stores with subscribeomatic where it doesn't happen. I think it's only a very few stores that use this auto-add option, thank gods.

Edit: I believe you can go to hippo-tech website and 'opt out', not sure how this would affect you if there was a group you WANTED messages from tho

edit #2: no the spam comes thru in chat

as far as I know, the actual subscribe o matic will not allow the owner to add people
people have to click the sign to be added

hippo groups do allow the owner to add people without their permission (which I feel is wrong)

you can visit the hippotech website and follow the directions for how to manage your groups on the website which will allow you to remove yourself from specific groups, as well as the option to block all groups from adding you without your doing it yourself (via clicking a sign)

hope this helps

Hippogroups, you are supposed to go back to the store and reclick the board to remove yourself. Or you can IM the store owner and see if they'll remove you. I know I will, if someone finds it annoying.
