Yes and I have done so before when i rented land on a private estate..there was primland..and you could pay to rent it..you couldnt build on it...or leave stuff on it, but the prims were added to your quota on your plot...very handy. _____________________

Everyone would want more prims if they could have them, of course. But that's like saying everyone would be better looking in RL if they could, or magically have more money in their bank accounts, or a spontaneously grow a bigger house, etc. But obviously, that's not how life (with the R or the S) works.
Prim restrictions are not a question of money. It's not even directly a question of land. It's an issue of system resources. SL uses land as an analogy for server usage. Every simulator is capable of keeping track of a certain number of objects, running a certain number of scripts, etc., and when you rent a portion of a sim, you're paying for an equivalent portion of everything it can do. The "land" is merely a visual/spatial representation of that resource division, so as to make the allocation easy to understand by a human user, nothing more. This, by the way, is why when you own two or more parcels of land in any single sim, you can distribute your total prim allowance across the parcels any way you want. You command X% of the sim's total resources. The land itself doesn't directly relate to that. To add more prims to a sim, you'd need somehow to add more processing power and memory to the server that runs it. LL has already done that, globally, once. The limit used to be 10,000 prims per sim. They upped it to 15,000 a few years ago. As time goes on, and hardware (and software) gets better and better, I'm sure they'll raise the limit again. |

I can make do with a smaller amount of prims - it's the space I crave. I'd be ecstatic with the openspace equivalent of a 1024 lot - 4096 sqm and 234 prims would suit me fine. Double prim land doesn't excite me. _____________________

I'd like more, but if and only if it didn't adversely affect performance. I love to build things, but it's also important to me not to be frozen in lag hell....

When I want more prims, I just tier up and buy more land. In general though, like Nic, the space is often a more pressing issue than using up my prims. _____________________
