I posted this in feed back asking if anyone has gotten this..its really strange.
Last night a girl((someone i've never met..i don't have her calling card and we don't belong in any common groups)) messages me..almost as if she was conferencing out friends..with a chat log of her and a well known animator..having a conversatoion pretty much about nothing.
I could see when and who she was typing to and see their response..none of this was happening at that very moment all the chat seemed to have been saved.
I messaged her asking her why...and what...why was i getting this sent to me..She wanted to know why i was messaging her and what I was talking about..I copied and pasted and resent back to her what she had sent to me and she was shocked.
She told me she was messaging her bf((who didn't happen to be this animator)) and somehow her chat got sent out to alot of people she didnt even know.
Anyone else ever have this happen?..This is the second time this has happened to me with this girl. within the last...month.

I had something similar happen to me a long time ago
someone asked me why I said such and such but I never said any such thing they were quite upset because what it showed me say was not very nice, and this person was a friend (I say was because we parted ways soon after) they did not believe I did not say those things and I swear my my dear mother's grave, I did not say those things... yet SL showed it as me saying it (and it was not someone using my account, as I was logged in when this happened) cuz when he replied the reply came to me... asking me why I was saying such mean things... needless to say I was upset, he did not completely believe me (I know, then I guess not a true friend) and we parted ways after that this is why I say nothing in SL is exactly private, if you do not want something you say to be public known, do not say it. _____________________

I have heard of IM's being sent to other avatars who had no reason to be included in the conversation. I believe there is a JIRA about it. One more feature of SL that doesn't work right.

I was at a club once where private IM's started showing up in group chat, but that's as close as I've seen as you are describing. It happened once to me about six months ago and I've never seen it since.

I'm pretty sure there's a buffer overrun somewhere in the guts of the IM protocol implementation. For an amusing tangent that may not be so tangential, consider http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-602 where specific lengths of script-generated IMs from objects with names of specific lengths usually disappear into the aether (as far as we know, anyway; perhaps they just always go to Lana

One thing I see pretty often is that group chat will appear to be coming from an individual. So, the IM window says, "Jane Doe", but the message was sent to some group I'm on. The IM tab should say the group name, but it just has the person's name and it looks like it's a private IM.
Since you are coming into the middle of the conversation that the group was having, you think it's some misdirected IM that you should not be seeing. |

yea I considered this..its why I messaged the girl asking what groups she was in...why i asked her if we shared each others calling card at some time....and the chat log was like.."saved chat" almost like i had a tattle tale collar script on her and somehow I had received the convo she was having with one other person.
