I have seen some conflicting info in various posts here on this topic and the SL search is even less helpful on this matter.
To cut to the chase, I have a 1024 (~200 prims) and 2048 (~400 prims, I don't have the exact #'s right now but those are in the ballpark) mainland plots in a low traffic sim in the corner of a residential area. What seems to be the average weekly rental rate for such plots?
Thanks for any input!

2L$ per prim per week minimum for mainland. 3L$ /p/w is more common. Just my rule of thumb.

We charge L$250 per 512 with would be 117 prims. L$500 for 1024sqm of course.

There is a lot of undercutting and you can get a 512 plot for 199L/wk. That, however, may not be feasible depending on the amount of tier you carry. Some places are going for 1.5L/wk. Depends on the business model of the landowner and their marketing skills.

You can lower your tier expense by renting tier. Search tier rental inworld. You can cut it almost in half.
Once you get the tier cost down, you can, as it has been said, undercut the competition or maximize profits.
Still, location is the deciding factor on whether you can get a tenant interested in your parcels. Good location will always get you a decent price and keep the parcels rented out.
